    DB:3.72:Handling .Class Files Insite Java Process sf

    Hello folks

    I have a question regarding JVMPI and JVM: I have created a small proff-of-concept program that handles JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD_HOOK and JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD events. After my class (simple Test.java with System.out.println) has beed loaded (*CLASSLOAD_HOOK event) I remembered pointer and size of .class file in memory of java process. Then, after CLASSLOAD event I filled this memory with zeroes (memset) to see if Test.class will execute normally. And it did worked fine. My question is: does java process need this memory after JVMPI_EVENT_CLASS_LOAD event? Can I safely override .class file data?

    DB:3.72:Handling .Class Files Insite Java Process sf

    For the Solaris 1.4.1_04 JVM, however, I seriously
    doubt that's the case. I wrote a simple program that
    sleep within a method call, used a SIGABRT to manually
    generate a coredump, and found both strings and method
    names duplicated in the coredump.yes, I also noticed that static string-s appeare more than once in memory dump but I am trying to make my code undecompilable (at least in a simple way). I wrote simple program which seeks for sequence of bytes equal to the .class file and this sequence can be found only when I do not clear memory. Therefore you can't easily find begining and end of .class file in memory dump and then decompile

    I would suggest, however, that you do something more
    complex than printing to System.out. Perhaps call an
    instance method (since this involves a name-based
    lookup). Or use reflection. Or do a manual coredump
    while the program's running and then run "strings" on
    the output.I take one of more sophisticated applications and try if it works

    Also remember that what works for your particular JVM
    may not work for others, meaning your code may not be
    portable.yes I know that

    DB:2.64:Troubles With Class "Process" And "Runtime" 89

    Hi everyone,

    I have a little problem developing an Interface that use and launch some external processes (e.g. like compiled .exe files).

    I always used this code:

    String command1 = "HC.exe -o options";
    String command2 = "HV.exe -c config";
    Runtime run_machine = Runtime.getRuntime();
    Process p1 = run_machine.exec(command1);
    p1.waitFor();
    Process p2 = run_machine.exec(command2);
    p2.waitFor();I didn't posted exception handling because i want to talk about the core problem.

    Well it always worked fine because I need to run a process then wait for it and then use files generated by p1 in process p2, then wait again and then continue...

    Ok now I changed some HV.exe's option and now this solution doesn't work anymore. The problem seems to be that p2 wait for my current Thread... that is waiting for p2... so loop everyone waiting for everyone... more... if i force closing my java program, HV.exe launched from p2 complete his work and give output...

    well i have no idea about how i can solve this trouble. I'm thinking about a solution that make HV process that it was not launched by my java program... but how can i do this?

    Thank you all

    DB:2.64:Troubles With Class "Process" And "Runtime" 89

    Ok solved... it was a stupid problem... my HV.exe tried to get control of command line (:S) but cannot because it was under java virtual machine control (:/). Changing my program HV.exe options i made it work.

    But i have a little question... how can i release some resources (like command line control) from java making other processes run correctly?

    thank you

    Hello,

    My piece of java code is required to replace a set of .class files as part of an update process. The problem is that the .class files to be replaced might be under execution - (at times it may be even required that the class file replace itself)

    Thanks in advance

    DB:2.48:Replacing An .Class File Under Execution jj

    Loaded classes are "owned" by the ClassLoader which loads them. To load new versions of classes already loaded you need to create a new classloader.

    And that means you have to ensure that the classes are really loaded by the classloader you set up to load them.

    When you run a regular Java program you have a single classloader which loads classes from the class path. You need to create a URLClassLoader which loads you dynamic classes from an repository, either jar(s) or class directories which must not be on the class path. Then you need to load classes explicitly from that. The URLClassLoader delegates any references to library classes etc. which are on the class path to the system classloader (which is it's "Parent").

    When the repository is updated you switch to a new URLClassLoader.

    Note that, on windows, jar files that are in use are access locked so you may be better to create a new repository directory each time.

    DB:2.46:Creating Exe Files That Execute Java Code mx

    How do I create .exe files after compiling .java or
    .class files ?Sigh When do people learn to search the forum for answers? Let's answer this question for the 1.000.000'th time:

    1) The JDK does not include any support for making .exe files. It does however support and encourage you to pack your classes into "exectuable" jar files that can be started simply by double-clicking them (provided that the Java Runtime Environment is installed on the target machine).

    2) There are a lot of tools out there (most of them are free) that can make a tiny .exe wrapper. But they do not compile your code into native code and still requires that the Java Runtime Environment is installed on the target machine.

    3) There are a few good tools (most of them are commercial, I believe) that compiles your code into native code. However, none of these tools can handle a Java program using any GUI (AWT/Swing) without having the Java Runtime Environment installed on the target machine.

    Thus, for most people there is not really any need for any of these tools, in my opinion. Only the few people who develop non-GUI programs with extreme performance requirements, will benefit from the tools mentioned in 3).

    So my view is this: If you need to make native programs, do not use Java.

This thread keeps on looking for any xml file and the processes the xml file and invoke the required BPEL process. Now, I want this java class to be loaded on server startup so that the thread keeps on running on the server.
    Can anybody help me out? I shall be very thankful to you.

    Regards,

    DB:2.45:Invoking A Java Class On Server Startup 8s

    To request a servlet is initialized when the container starts up, add the load-on-startup element to the web.xml file in your WEB-INF directory. Any positive integer value will signal start up initialization.

    - Create a java class that extends HttpServlet
    - In the public void init() class start your java thread.

    In the web.xml file define the servlet:

    servlet
    servlet-nameHelloWorld/servlet-name
    servlet-classcom.oracle.bla.bla/servlet-class
    load-on-startup1/load-on-startup

    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/api/java/io/ObjectOutputStream.html

    They say that:
    Classes that require special handling during the serialization
    and deserialization process must implement special methods with
    these exact signatures:

    private void writeObject(java.io.ObjectOutputStream out)
    throws IOException
    private void readObject(java.io.ObjectInputStream in)

    DB:2.44:Using Ant For Complex Building j3

    Hey,
    we're using Ant to build things in the company and we've run to the limits of it.
    The situation is as follows; we're creating new ant tasks to help us in handling the builds, so far the parameters are hardcoded manually for each build and we would like to reduce the time needed for builds.

    We want to make a rebuild task that would get parameters from somewhere (database for example) and automatically rebuild a few hundred builds without user interaction. This is J2ME so for each project you have builds for a hundred or so different handset and in 7 or so languages.

    The problem we've run into is as follows: we can call a Java program from ant that would fetch the required parameters, but then what? Ant isn't exactly flexible in this case, so we've been pondering different solutions, for example:
    1. The java program generates build.xml files and calls ant from the Java program to run the generated buildfile.
    2. The java program generates some sort of property file and passes control back to ant which reads the properties and builds accordingly (hard/impossible to do since would require looping of properties and real variables, properties apparently can't change value).
    3. The Java program itself handles the building process totally, not nice since would require to update the builder class every time changes are made.

    Cheers,
    Jussi

    DB:2.44:Using Ant For Complex Building j3

    Have a seperate properties file for each build
    environment and a set of templates. Before you build
    you copy the templates over and then replace all the
    build specific values for that particular
    environment. You can bundle each environment specific
    build target into a general "build everything" target.That's pretty much what we have.
    - core ant buildfile with standardised targets
    - core propertiesfile with standardised properties
    - project specific buildfile (which relegates to the core buildfile)
    - project specific propertiesfile overriding the core propertiesfile (and adding any project specific properties)
    - environment specific properties file within projects determined through commandline arguments to the JVM when running ANT.

    Plus a generic build environment with its own properties files containing instructions for a buildscript to pull all that (and the related sources and other artifacts) out of CVS to create the deploment archives.

    Hook it all up to cruisecontrol and Jira as well, and it is almost nice to do builds :)

Here is my code. The only thing I could think of is the HTTP responses, but other than that, I am clueless.

    rangeStart = chunkIndex * chunksize;
    rangeEnd = rangeStart + chunksize - 1;
    conn.setRequestProperty("Range", "bytes=" + rangeStart + "-" + rangeEnd);
    int responseCode = conn.getResponseCode();
    if (responseCode != 200 responseCode != 206) {
    System.out.println("Response Code = " + conn.getResponseCode());
    break;
    }

    in = conn.openInputStream();
    int length = -1;
    byte[] readBlock = new byte[256];
    int fileSize = 0;
    while ((length = in.read(readBlock)) != -1) {
    out.write(readBlock, 0, length);
    fileSize += length;

    }
    totalSize += fileSize;
    System.out.println("Chunk Downloaded: " + fileSize + " Bytes");
    chunkIndex++; // index (range) increase
    in.close();
    conn.close();
    in = null;
    conn = null;

    }
    System.out.println("Full file downloaded: " + totalSize + " Bytes");
    out.close();

    {
    UiApplication.getUiApplication().popScreen(UiApplication.getUiApplication().getActiveScreen());
    }
    }

    }

    Basically what happens is I have a waiting screen that pops up when the request is sent and then it dismisses once the file is downloaded, hense the popscreen.

    So can anyone provide any insite? Thanks

    I suspect you need to log the processing a bit better and figure out which of the possible 'exit' points that this code is taking when you do not get a full download.

    I don;'t think we can help just by looking at this code.

    DB:2.43:Bursting With Java Apis / Multithreading / Errors Handling jd

    We are trying to use the bursting JAVA APIs 10.1.3.3.1 Standalone) to burst huge XML files and generate PDF Files from RTF templates. Here are a list of our issues with this feature:

    1. We have some problems catching the errors when bursting. We have tried to use the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class, but it is not always reacting like we think it should. Could you please give us an exemple of a clean bursting error catching or a brief description of how we could do it. We have a lot of difficulties to find information about using the JAVA APIs of BIP.

    2. Is it a clean way of catching the bursting errors to use the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class?

    3. When using the 10.1.3.3.1 DocumentProcessor JAVA API, the process gets killed when the RTF template is not where the control file specified it. Even when using a finally clause containing the document processor, we can't fetch the error from the "oracle.apps.xdo.common.log.Logger" class. We did not find a way to catch this error which make our program crash.

    4. How can we enable multi-threading that is included in the DocumentProcessor JAVA APIs so it can take advantage of the multi-processors environnements?

    DB:2.43:Bursting With Java Apis / Multithreading / Errors Handling jd

    1. Check tim d. blog, you can use the bursting listners to get the errors. It's also in the documentation.

    First, on every exception, the Bursting APIs are dumping the error in the Logger. So I can't see how we can use the listeners to catch these. We can check the hasExceptions on the Logger but still, we have some problems with this. When we deploy our application as a MDB (Message driven bean), it seems that once the hasException flag has been raised, if we call the MDB again, it is still up. Is there documentation about that Logger class? Also, I'm worried that we won't be able to call our MDB twice to run simultaneously 2 different bursting process since it seems the Logger is something static, keeping every exception in memory... That's bad.. And show me where you have found documentation about this. All I see in documentation is how to call the DocumentProcessor in a couple of lines. I don't see anything about a clean way to catch errors.

    2. Yes/No/Depends. I think it's fine. If your changing the logger options in your program that could come back to haunt you.

    I guess so, I'm not changing anything and its already haunting me...

    Even worst, when we deploy the component has an MDB, when the error happens, it kills the whole oc4j container... please correct this quick.

    4. How can we enable multi-threading that is included in the DocumentProcessor JAVA APIs so it can take advantage of the multi-processors environnements?

    We got an answer from the dev team which is to add two properties to the document processor, something like:
    enable-multithreading: true
    thread-count: 2
    We did that and what we got is that the process started and it got stuck in a dead lock at the first document processing. How nice! :)

    We got a milestone in March and I'm really worried about all those problems... Not enough documentation, a pretty bad error handling, errors making crash the whole oc4j container, Logger seems not to be handling simultaneous calls/ threads, not even handling two subsequent calls... etc.

    If anyone has the magic answer, it would be pretty welcomed!

    Thanks

    Do you understand programming? Once an application has nothing to do - it stops - unless it is programmed to stay running.

    I'n trying to expose ejb 3.0 stateless session bean method as a web service using @WebService annotation.
    So no wsdl... files in my ear archive, all web service config files are created by deployer process.

    The method return type is my custom class.
    The problem is when serialization of an instance of this class is done, I get cyclic reference error message.
    I'd like to omit few attributes of this class from serialization when it is used by web service to get rid of the error (I have no problem with RMI).
    Easiest way is to edit wsdl and mapping files but these files are generated.

    Is there an annotation or parameter in a configuration file to affect web service files generator?
    Or any other way.

    I'm using Oracle JDeveloper 10.1.3.3

    DB:2.41:Handling Billing Information Using Java - Insecure?? fs

    Our firm is currently developing an e-commerce building site using java. An issue has propped up while trying to design how thw site should handle payments . The developers are adamant that due to the ease with which class files can be decompiled , we shouldnt let the user enter his payment info( like credit card no: ) on our site , rather forward to a secure gateway site. But the client is of the view that doing this will break the flow of the process and points out that many sites do make usre enter info on their site . I'm sure you must know more on this than i do , is it safe to let the user enter the info on our site and let we pass them to the provider ?

    DB:2.41:Handling Billing Information Using Java - Insecure?? fs

    But the de-compilation argument lacks credibility in my book. These developers must make a habit of hardcoding DB passwords in their source files or something. Silly. Agreed - using Java to build a site has no intrinsic security risks, but using those developers to do so sounds insanely risky to me.

    DB:2.41:Hashmap's Empty 9c

    Hi dudes

    I start at the beginning^^
    I'm quite new in java and I have to write an application as a practice in java, which analyses txt files in a lot of zip files about their DayLightSaving handling (^^) . There are 4 types of txt files ... (ceva.txt / ice.txt / ...) and I have for each type a seperate button/method... I have a method which goes through all Zip Files and reads out the txt files and store them in a Vector of ZipEntries and returns it.
    an other class (the GUI class) will get this information for editing... So if i want to reaccess these txt files I have to create a new stream for the zip files because the zipentries don't know from which file it comes^^ .
    So for this I made a HashMap with the entries ZipEntry, String (pathOfZipFile)
    this map will be filled when the application reads out the zip files at the first time. The hashmap fill in works ( saw it in debug mode ) but as soon as the process stops and the GUI will be visible again the Hashmap is lost.

    Does anybody know why this happens or another/better way to do what I want to do?
    I hope u can understand what I wrote^^

    DB:2.41:Hashmap's Empty 9c

    ou ^^ yes you're right :)

    that didn't catch my eye ...
    i'm not gonna call it' directly two times but i have this constructor call in the actionPerformed method-.- so it created a new object every time I pressed a button.
    but I found another solution and i think it's a bit dirty :)

    i declared the hashmap as static in the GUI class and accessed it from the Core class during the process. that works too but ... :) I think your solution is the better one .... thank you very much for the help you made my day :)

    DB:2.40:Handling Failure Of Automated Activities j7

    Hello - I am very, very happy with Jbpm4, and I am currently looking for a hint on best practices for handling failures of automatic activities invoking retries or failovers - for example, a whose class connects to an external server (which may be down at the time of calling) I understand I can signal the failure in the return variable and model the retry / failover process explicitly with a switch, but that seems rather cumbersome. My preference would be to have the possibility to implicitly choose from the activity the outgoing transition, pointing to a "retry" state which periodically re-enters the automatic activity with a timer. I am not sure if it is possible to define that an exception in the java class with exception-handlers, because the docs seem incomplete. Also, about exception handling, I could not find any hints on these two points: 1- what possibilities are there to "recover" a process that has encountered an unhandled exception? 2- will other process instances running in the same PVM keep going in such a case?Any pointers woud be really appreciated.Bye and thanks.

    "emp.tyres" wrote:Thanks for the replies -"kukeltje" wrote:1: Exception handling like in jBPM 3 is still on the todo list (look in Jira).Actually, I was more trying to understand what options are there to recover the process after an UNhandled exception - assuming a job fails due to an automatic action throwing an exception, what state will it end in, and how can we recover it (change the offending variable, restart the failed activity, etc.)? I understand this is not trivial, but it is still very important for us as we are orchestrating a large number of systems on a critical process.That is precisely what the jBPM 3 exceptionhandler was (partly) for. Doing 'some things', restarting the activity not being one of them, but if you use async for this, the job is rolled back and retried. Normally, 'changing the offending variable' would /could be done in an adition actionhandler e.g. on the transition that is taken in case of an error. The error has to be caught then in the actionhandler and the 'error transition' name has to be returned. "emp.tyres" wrote:"kukeltje" wrote:For technical retries to external systems etc, I do not think jBPM should reinvent (reimplement) the wheel (like they are doing in drools with reinventing workflow) but leverage what is already there, JBoss ESB or JMS or your custom code/custom node. For business level retries, what you describe is an option. Might require a custom node though.Agreed - I am a bit worried at implementing a wait / loop / wait / loop custom node, though (e.g: is now after given date? if so, proceed, alse thread.sleep(10000) and then re-enter activity through self-looping transaction) - I tried it and it technically works, but does it risk hanging the whole PVM?Yes as it can result in thread starvation "emp.tyres" wrote:And would it behave correctly with persistence assuming e.g. JBoss is restarted? [I can provide the code if you think it could be useful for a test case]Not fullly, because it might be in a transaction and you could have had multiple retries already that get lost. I myself not, but I've seen posts in the forum of people that have successfully used it.

    That is a HTML file; the clue would have been in the name of the file as it is called CacheService.*html* You normally open HTML files in your favourite web browser.

    The file is actually part of the Coherence API documentation (or Java Docs) and you normally look at these by opening the %COHERENCE_HOME%\doc\api\index.html file in your web browser.

    If you don't know what Java Docs are here is a link to Sun's documentation on Java Docs [http://java.sun.com/j2se/javadoc/]

    All you need to do is copy the archive.jar into the BPEL-INF/lib. For the list of ant task please refer to the Apache Ant Manual:
    http://ant.apache.org/manual/index.html

    There is specifically a copyfile task that you could add to your build script. See example:

    I may or may not be a Guru but even the goddess Kali cannot reach her ten arms through the Internet to the keyboard of your computer and investigate for you the seven things I suggested you investigate. You have to do it yourself. Posting your code over and over again is not investigation, and repeatedly evading questions like how is the data transmitted and why aren't you using SSL doesn't get us anywhere either.

    I will give you one hint. This statement:
    It's working fine. No Error no Exception. is definitely untrue, for reasons which you were given last week.

    Thank you a lot, daniel! Besides the bug you have found, I tried to import raw .java (or FXML) files into classpath of Scene Builder. But as I get, it requires pre-compiled .class files or jars.

    In general, Scene Builder is a bit hard to work with currently. Built-in CSS editor and custom controls on the left panel could make life in JavaFX closer to as in NetBeans Swing visual editor.

    Okay thank you! Now, I need to use JDK8 because I have already some code using lambda expressions and I don't want to refactor it back to JDK7. If I don't change the implementation of IntegerTextField, that file won't be compiled every time I run my project, correct? Can I switch to JDK8 after compiling IntegerTextField for the first time using JDK7?

    hi there,
    I'm a little confused about file handling there are so many classes and interfaces that can be used with files.
    but which one to be used when i dont understand .
    Like FileReader and BufferedReader or FileInputStream can be used for reading from a file.

    But in which situations which class and its methods should be used?

    Can anybody tell me about this as well as for writting ?
    I know i'm being stupid but I'm really confused.

    Also can anybody suggest some good reading sites for file handling in JAVA.

    Thanx in advance.

    DB:2.39:File Handling 8p

    the input n output streams r used for bytewise communication,i.e these streams communicate with 8 bits at a time,while the reader classes like buffered reader etc communicates with a streams of 16 bits.
    the later takes the inputs in the form of characters.
    so it is called chatacter stream.

    DB:2.39:C# Stackoverflowexception a1

    Hola!
    Lately, I have been into ASP.NET. Just wanted to brush my C# especially 4.0, the stack overflow crossed my mind and hencewent to MSDN:
    StackOverflowException Class
    The exception that is thrown when the execution stack overflows because it contains too many nested method calls.
    This class cannot be inherited (for example, to recover from unbounded recursion).
    Starting with the .NET Framework version 2.0, a
    StackOverflowException object cannot be caught by a try-catch block and the corresponding process is terminated by default.

    Then why on earth, you have this StackOverflowException Class, why not render it obsolete? I thought C# or at least C# 4.0 is superior to Java in terms of its features. Any improvements in C# 4.0 concerning stack overflow andits handling, and how does
    Java handle this? Please don't ask me to go to the Java forum!
    Please, can an expert answer this?
    Thanks.

    DB:2.39:C# Stackoverflowexception a1

    A StackOverflowException happens at the processor level. Your stack can only be so large ... and that's a hardware limitation, not software. Infinite recursion is the best way to cause this. It doesn't matter what language or framework you use.

    And, as Dave Andersen points out, this is a good exception to throw because it can be logged ... otherwise you have a process simply disappear for reasons unknown and unknowable.

    You need to create a REDEPLOY file and touch the file.

    From the documentations:

    Dynamic Redeployment of Exploded Applications

    You can also dynamically redeploy applications or application components
    that have been deployed in exploded format. When an application has been
    deployed in exploded format, the Administration Server periodically looks
    for a file named REDEPLOY in the exploded application directory. If the
    timestamp on this file changes, the Administration Server redeploys the
    exploded directory.

    If you want to update files in an exploded application directory, do the
    following:

    a.. When you first deploy the exploded application, create an empty file
    named REDEPLOY in the directory where the exploded application resides.

    b.. To update the exploded application, copy the updated files over the
    existing files in that directory.

    c.. After copying the new files, touch the REDEPLOY file in the exploded
    directory to alter its timestamp.
    When the Administration Server detects the changed timestamp, it redeploys
    the contents of the exploded directory.

    - Issue is when the jsp java code is compiled , we are able to find that class files which get generated , they are dynamically corrupted.
    - It happens only in the 64 environment along with WLS 10.3.1

    There are 2 scenarios :

    Scenario 1:
    ---------------
    When we deploy the application using the keepgenerated option, we are able to the .jsp correctly getting converted to .java files.

    However, when these .java files are in the process to get converted to .class files, we are able to see the .class files in the corrupted format.

    Scenario 2:
    ---------------
    When we deploy the application using the keepgenerated option , and then manually compiling the .java files(using javac compiler), we are able to find correct .class files.

    We do have the both the version of .class files - .class file which is corrupt and .class file which is good.

    Customer wants to know, why is it that, even after using the same compiler, the .class files that get generated when we deploy the application are corrupted and .class files that get generated , when we manually compile the code are (.java files to .class) in correct format.

    They also have involved IBM Team to look in to .class files details.

    However, any pointers with respect to this issue are really appreciated.

    You can do this in HTML (although I'm not sure why you would want to, as the user already has access to tools that do that). It's the same kind of button that webmail services (e.g. Hotmail) use when you want to attach a file to your e-mail. So open up your favourite webmail service, navigate to a page that asks you to navigate to the file you want to attach, and do "View Source" to see how it's done.

    Best is to do technical exceptionhandling IN the java classes and e.g. return values used for directing the process. E.g. take a transition to another node. Exceptionhandling in the processdefinition is not a replacement for java exceptionhandling.

    I suspect that the jar files are in the JPI cache. During applet initialization, the various classes start loading. Then, because of the page trasition,
    the applet gets shutdown by the Java Plug In. Because it doesn't terminate quickly enough, the JPI starts killing threads (java.lang.ThreadDeath).
    The classloader seems to be ungraceful in handling that situation. This seems to leave the classloader's internal state in an inconsitent state.
    Therefore, until the JVM is restarted, the class loading fails.

    Trying to write code to both retrieve and submit I/O thru a pipe to an external apllication. The external app is fired from Java, a welcome greeting is output form the external app, then the external app waits for input from the pipe to then process and return back thru the pipe the results. I am able to get the external app to pass back the welcome greeting but either cannot get Java to pass input into the waiting external app or am not correctly handling the results back from the external app.

    The code so far:import java.io.*;

    public class ReadingProcess
    {
    public static void main(String args[])
    {
    try
    {
    Runtime runtime = Runtime.getRuntime();

    new OutputStreamWriter(process.getOutputStream()));
    BufferedReader buffIn =
    new BufferedReader(
    new InputStreamReader(process.getInputStream()));

    buffOut.write("some string");
    buffOut.flush();

    String line=null;
    while ( (line = buffIn.readLine()) != null)

    DB:2.36:Converting Java Applications To .Exe Files? f1

    Ok,

    Listen carefully,

    It is not possible as such because java needs the Virtual Machine but here is the way round it and do not complain because it DOES work, I have done it !

    Go to www.zerog.com and download the installer. What this does is it creates a .exe file with the Virtual Machine included in it so when you run it, it instally the virtual machine.

    It DOES work and it is very good so get it.

    Jave files you can get from JAVA_TOP under specified path and XML files for pages you can get from APPL_TOPproduct_topMDS folder.

    So this is probably the closest what JAD got to producing "real Java code" from the class files.

    DB:2.36:Re: Dummy Question On Semantic 7c

    ... ask them for the source code?

    That's a two edged sword... we've ended up wasting lots of time debugging a product for which we have a (very expensive) support contract because the vendors tech-support is way overstretched... now the boogers expect us to be a FREE beta testing / debugging service.

    Still, We'll have them over a barrel as soon as the support agreement expires. We're started patching stuff up locally and not bothering to tell the vendor, because then they just call us and waste more of time with questions like "Why did you do that?"... So we have the only copy of the source code which actually works... and we're going to sell it back to them... or sue them for NOT supply the support services they've been paid for... for the last three years. Touche.

    Regards,

    DB:2.35:Passing Arguments In Process Class cf

    Exec is really unreliable but it should work for this, I think. One issue may be the space in 'Program Files'. Another may be the forward slashes (shoule be fine in XP, I think.) Try this:
    java.lang.Process P = a.exec("\"C:/Program Files/Microsoft Money/System/mnyimprt.EXE\" c:/abc.qif");and if that doesn't work, try this too:
    java.lang.Process P = a.exec("\"C:\\Program Files\\Microsoft Money\\System\\mnyimprt.EXE\" c:\\abc.qif");

    It is not a good habit, but you can extract the classes and create one jar file which containing the classes of several or more jar files.(It assumes there is no duplication in the full path name of the classes.

    I wonder if so many classes will slow down the performance.
