    DB:3.70:Database Error z9

    Hi all

When I log into OEM and go to the servers tab and click Tablespaces I get an authentication screen. If I then use an admin account to try and login I get a:

Database Error Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

Could someone point me in the right direction as to where to start to troubleshoot this?

My environment is 11GR2 RAC on Windows 2008R2

    Kindest regards

    DB:3.70:Database Error z9

    Hi

i can see an entry in the listener log for when I connected to EM. However nothing is logged when I try to access the tablespaces part of EM so maybe the problem doesn't lie with the listener. Unfortunately this environment is not under change control so its hard for me to say if anything has been changed.

    Thanks

DB:3.58:11gr2 Rac Io Error: The Network Adapter Could Not Establish The Connection sm

Hello,I am facing an issue which I can't seem to figure out how to approach.I am using SQL Developer version 3.0.04 (and I won't be able to upgrade so...) in order to connect to couple of 2-node 11gR2 RAC databases using SCAN.While I can connect successfully to one of them, I am getting IO Error: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection while trying to connect to another database. Both the 11gR2 RAC databases are of same version (11.2.0.3). The strange part (at least to me) is I can connect to both the RAC databases using SQL*Plus with a TNS entry from a different machine.I should mention that I am getting this issue on a TEST database. However, in a LIVE setup, I can use SQL Developer (version 3.0.04) to connect to the corresponding LIVE database.I am pretty confidant that the configuration of LIVE and TEST databases is same (except, of course, the host names, scan names etc.)Can somebody please provide me with any pointers as to where I should start looking for ?Thanks in advance.p.s. I am happy to provide any more/specific details as needed, so feel free to shout...

Hello All,Many thanks for your help and suggestions. The issue was with firewall setting of "deep packet inspection" being switched on. Once turned off, the issue was resolved.

    Hi,

    I am learning 11gR2 RAC .

I found that both SCAN Listener and local listener run from grid home. So, what is the use of listener.ora file in db_home/network/admin/ ?

    Thanks and Regards,
    Saikat

    DB:3.02:11gr2 Rac Listener 9j

    Hi Friend,

Please read below about SCAN (Important for 11g RAC)

    1. Single Client Access Name (SCAN) is a domain name that resolves to all the addresses allocated for the SCAN name.
    2. Three IP addresses should be provided (in DNS) to use for SCAN name mapping as this ensures high availability.
*3. As you mentioned, during Oracle Grid Infrastructure installation, listeners are created for each of the SCAN addresses, and Oracle Grid Infrastructure controls*
which server responds to a SCAN address request.

    4. LOCAL_LISTENER points to the node listener on the respective node and the REMOTE_LISTENER points to the SCAN.

    Example :

    remote_listener: cluster1:1521
    local_listener:(DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS_LIST=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=IP Address)(PORT=1521))))

    Hope it helps......

    Thanks

    Hi,

Do we need to Set variable ORACLE_HOME properly (Grid Home) while starting RDBMS instance?
e.g ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/11.2.0/grid*I recommend you set ORACLE_HOME properly for each Oracle Installation when you use SQLPLUS.

    i.e: cat /etc/oratab
    orcl:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db_1
    db10g:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1
+ASM1:/u01/app/11.2.0/gridAlso you can startup/shutdown our database with SQLPLUS using ORACLE NET*, but it must be configured properly.

My recommendation sis always/s use SRVCTL and CRSCTL to manage to your environment. Track all the process of initialization processes through the logs using ADRCI utility (only 11.1 or later).
When use SRVCTL or CRSCTL to manage I recomend you use (GRID HOME).

    SQL alter database open;
    alter database open

    ORA-00312: online log 3 thread 2: '+FRA/yyy/onlinelog/group_3.259.738489481'
SQLI give to you three options:

1 - Add more asmdisk on Diskgroup +FRA
2 - Make backup of all archivelog using RMAN and option delete input (i.e backup archivelog delete all input;)
3 - If this database is for TEST ONLY and you not need backup or recovery of then you can delete all archivelog using RMAN (i.e delete archivelog all;)

I recommend you create routine of backups of the database and archivelog to prevent this area becomes exhausted.
If you need the database in archivelog but it is only to test then create routine to delete archivelogs periodically.
If you dont need the database in archivelog, then just disable it.

    Ok, I got something:
I ran CVU on debug mode, and tracked network tests.
Al tests run fine, but I have sppp0 interface, this interface is causing me problems. But It's a new feature on Solaris, so, to disable it I need to uninstall this feature, and I'm not sure to do that.
Anyway, I'm going to test the following scenario.
Run trough the tests, obviously, network will "fail", I'll ignore it and continue with clusterware instalation.
    Hope it works.

attempting to try out sql developr 4.0.2 but it throws "IO Error: Network adapter could not establish the connection." i'm attempting a TNS connection type to a remote server.i'm able to connect using sql developer 3.0, sql plus etc... without issue.any advice greatly appreciated.

DB:2.89:Sql Developer 4.0.2 Throws Io Error: Network Adapter Could Not Establish The Connection. dz

Keep in mind a couple of differences between 3.0 and 4.0 releases in terms of connectivity and using a previously installed Oracle client....
    1. They both come with different default versions of the JDBC driver, and 4.0 requires at least an 11.2.0.3 version of the driver
    2. Release 3.0 automatically tries to find both a tnsnames.ora and a JDBC driver in an existing Oracle client install (often doing less than a perfect job).
    3. Release 4.0 instead gives you control of which Oracle Home / Instant Client to use. See options in Tools Preferences Database Advanced
    4. Both 3.0 and 4.0 also let you specify in Advanced which directory to use to look up a tnsnames.ora, which need not be in an Oracle Home.
Since you can still connect using SQL*Plus or SQL Developer 3.0, this does not seem to be a firewall issue (e.g., something changed over the weekend).I would recommended verifying the connection details in the 3.0 and 4.0 user settings are the same, plus check the preference values set for points (3) and (4) above. Is it possible you have more than one tnsnames.ora* file, and 4.0 is somehow picking up a different copy than 3.0, one with incorrect connection info?Regards,GarySQL Developer Team

Make sure you have added the datasource information in orion-ejb-jar.xml.

The datasource which you specify in orion-ejb-jar.xml has to be configured in OC4J instance which you are deploying to
    or
You can define a database connection in JDeveloper .

Let us say "Scott" and add a datasource with name "jdbc/ScottDS" in orion-ejb-jar.xml
JDeveloper will automatically create a data-sources.xml in the EAR file.

To add data source information in orion-ejb-jar.xml
    Select orion-ejb-jar.xml
    Right mouse and choose settings
    Select Entity Bean
    Add datasource on the right hand pane;

Ensure the URL param is set properly in the pool def. Check hostname,
port and database/TNS entry. Also, try dbpinging the database with the
    following:

java utils.dbping ORACLE user password dbname

substitute the appropriate values where necessary. For example, I have
a TNS def called 'jforum.world' for a particular oracle instance. User
is 'auser' and the password is 'apass'. The following command will
    test the connection:

java utils.dbping ORACLE auser apass jforum.world

Alternatively, you can try tnsping, an oracle util, to test the
    connectability.

If either of these utils work, then it's probably a typo somewhere in
    the pool properties.

This could be due to the fact that your RAC TNSListener is returning a DNS host entry to your RAC nodes that your application server cannot resolve. Try updating your /etc/hosts file with the appropriate DNS host entries pointing to your RAC nodes and give it a try.

DB:2.85:The Network Adapter Could Not Establish The Connection Error In Jboss 5.1 ss

    Now i know !!!

A virtual IP address eliminates a host's dependency upon individual network interfaces BUT Incoming packets are sent to the system's VIP address, but all packets travel through the real network interfaces only. So in our case, VIP address resolved but when VIP address translate into physical IP that definition was missing in our /etc/hosts file and after adding that definition system worked.

Previously, if an interface failed, any connections to that interface were lost. With VIP on your system and routing protocols within the network providing automatic reroute, recovery from failures occurs without disruption to the existing user connections that are using the virtual interface as long packets can arrive through another physical interface. Systems running VIP are more highly available because adapter outages no longer affect active connections. Because multiple physical adapters carry the system IP traffic, overall load is not concentrated on a single adapter and associated subnet.

    Hi ,

There is new installation of Oracle RAC 11gR2 with weblogic Server 10.3

    RAC consist of two nodes.

When SCAN virtual ip addresses are used to connect to database sometimes connection is suitable but sometimes not. (SCAN -vip resolves 3-ip addresses)

At weblogic server thin jdbc client is used.

When real ip address of a node is used then connection is successful without any issues.

when connection is not successful it throws error :
Netwok Adapter Error :-failed to establish connection

Why the behavior is like this?

    Hi there,

allow a little addition, please: the links point to the latest version of the documentation (thanks, Levi), which assumes 11.2.0.2.

I would recommend using 11.2.0.2, but if the customer insisits on 11.2.0.1, then be aware that the configuration wizard used in the documentation did not exist in 11.2.0.1. You will need a different sequence of step in this case. The easiest and best would therefore be to use 11.2.0.2 - the information was not given in the original request, hence I thought I would add this information here.

    Hope it helps. Thanks,

DB:2.80:11gr2 Rac Static Db Listener Entry In Grid Home Or Oracle Home? kd

    Hi,
The listener in 11gR2 runs from GIRD HOME and runs on scan-ip listener.Yes.

Using a grid infrastructure installation, then the listener runs from the grid infrastructure home. Oracle Automatic Storage Management is installed as part of the grid infrastructure, the default listener is created and runs from the grid infrastructure home. If you perform a database installation, then the database must use the same listener created during the grid infrastructure installation.

Using Oracle Restart or Oracle Grid Infrastrucutre for a Cluster, then the default listener and any additional listeners must run from the grid infrastructure home.

See this example add/config database 10g on Listener 11.2

    file: /u01/app/11.2.0/grid_crs/network/admin/listener.ora

    Colin-
Try creating and deploying a simple CMP bean, such as one generated from the Scott.DEPT (or HR.DEPARTMENTS) table.

This process will prompt you for a JDeveloper connection and will automatically generate a datasources.xml file based on your JDeveloper connections for use during deployment.

For the simplest scenario, right-click on the Dept (or Departments) bean after you create it and select 'Run'. This will perform an implicit deployment to the OC4J embedded server.

Assuming this works, then try deploying to a remote (standalone) OC4J instance that you launch using 'java -jar oc4j.jar' (this is described in the JDev docs).

If you are still having trouble, please reply with whatever details you can provide and I'll try to help you out.

You can run the 11.2 clusterware in the bottom of 10.2, 11.1, 11.2 database, not the otherway around.
The clusterware has to be = DBMS.

After you have upgraded the clusterware you can update the database.

    Hi,

No, I would like to keep the manager just for the database and the rac cluster apart. So I thought OR you could specify the rac-cluster via the SCAN address or oracle would've made a sort of rac controller to put on the manager so the manager can detect the rac cluster while installing 11gr2

    Hi all
I am running 11gr2 on windows with RAC. My question is which listener.ora file is being used is it the one in the Grid Home Network folder or in the ORACLE HOME network folder?

    Thanks

    DB:2.75:Rac Listener Question a9

    Hi,

Since the listener is running out of the grid infrastructure home, it will use the listener.ora there.
However the listener.ora (and endpoints_listener.ora) are only there for compatibility reasons. Actually all information of the listener configuration is held in the OCR and read from there.
One exception to this is e.g. the static services you need to register (e.g. for DataGuard), these have to be put into the listener.ora, and will also get picked up by the listener.

The services itself are registered by the pmon of the database. The pmon of the database will contact the listeners specified in remote_listener and local_listener parameter to register the services.

One node RAC and two servers?
    This is possible.
Are you going to use the second server for another purpose while the primary is online ?
Or is the server in the dr site a kind of hot standby ?

On the other hand you could use it as testing server and when needed, stop the testing service and start the production service on it.
Remember that the dr site should be within a certain range as you need to share storage between both servers and have to deal with latency here.

If you're planning not to use de second server, then it might be cheaper to use Dataguard.

I cold not find the required documents on PAM as suggested by the previous reply. I believe uou can find the Supported Platforms Documents under sdn - Articels - BusinessObjects - choose your product with Version - choose the Supported Platforms Document for your OS. I would advise you to go through "supported platforms documents" for all your installed BoBJ products. What is termed PAM in SAP products (NW, etc.) is called PAR (Products Availability Reports (PARs) for products based on BoBJ products.

    Hi,

Is Fusion11g/weblogic 10.3 is certified with 11gR2 Grid RAC DB ?.

means 11gR2 Grid RAC DB uses Single Client Access Name(SCAN) to access the DB.

http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/clustering/pdf/scan.pdf which is the good feature of 11gR2 RAC DB.

    R/

    DB:2.70:Is Fusion11g/Weblogic 10.3 Is Certified With 11gr2 Rac Db ? z8

According to the FMW certification matrix:

    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/files/oracle%20fusion%20middleware%2011gR1%20(11.1.1.x)%20certification%20matrix.xls

WLS 11g R1 (10.3.1+) is supported against Oracle DB 11.2.0.1+

I believe WLS can support the use of a SCAN address from a pure configuration perspective.

But if you want to use DB load-balancing/failover from WLS then you are strongly recommended to use the existing WLS MultiDataSource model. In this way, you need to still specify a unique INSTANCE_NAME for each data source that is composed into the MultiDataSource.

    Hi Fiedi,
    Thanks for you reply.

The guests are both configured to use a bridged adaptor on the wireless adaptor.

I am currently using the rac1-priv IP address (192.168.0.101), and it does not work. If I try the public or VIP addresses, they do not work either - presumably since they are on a different subnet.

    Thanks
GavinYou will not be able to connect through private network as there isn't listener listening in that IP.

Try change your wireless IP to network 192.168.2.x and try to ping the guests public IP

    Cheers

    DB:2.70:Extended Rac Implementation mj

    Hi,

We are going to implement Oracle extended RAC (11gR2) for a client, can someone provide the implementation guide for the same.

    And some queries are

    1) What are the key requirements to implement Oracle Extended RAC (11gR2)
    2) What is the maximum distance between the nodes in an extended RAC environment

DB:2.69:Application Not Able To Connect To 11gr2 Rac cm

    Hi,

I have a set of 11gR2 RAC Database installed. I have configured the application to come in via a SERVICE, STGSERVICE. When I tried sqlplus to connect in through the service defined in the tnsnames.ora in the server itself, I could connect in successfully. When I tried using sqlplus to connect in through the service defined in the tnsnames.ora in a server with Oracle Cleint, I was able to connect in too.

However, the application encountered the following error when it tried to connect in using JDBC. Any advice how I can resolve this? Thanks!!

I suspect it might be that there did not correctly configure the connection to the DNS server. Possible?
