    My Arris/Motorola X1 box will sometimes ruin a recording if I try to watch it before the program finishes.

    The recording freezes and cannot be restarted.

    When this happens, the recording vanishes upon completion of the program as if it were never scheduled to record.

    This is my second Arris/Motorola X1 box. The original was replaced in an attempt to correct this same problem. Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

    hey portsmouth...so also posted this somewhere else last night. the same thinghappened to me last night. i called tech support last night and they thought it maybe caused by the latest firmware and that they will look at it. woke up this morning and my firmware had been rolled back. my guess is that they are working on it then they will re-release the firmware. check yours see what version you have if it says 40p5 chances you won't have problems tonight.

    For about 3 weeks now, I have been having problems accessing my recordings on my X1 DVR. I t has gradually been getting worse and I have called Comcast several times. Everytime they just want me to power cycle the box, and that works for one program. Each time it alsointerupts anything that is recording, just so I can watch one. This hardly seems like a solution.

    That is the same problem we are having with the XR2 remote. I also tried useing the cell phone app that makes it a remote, but it did the same thing.

    you didn't mention updating the application. new version of the xFinity TV app. uninstall old version and install new version and accept terms again. (from previous threads on this forum)

    The guide should come back in 24-48 hours. If it's slowly popluating, then give it more time. If no guide data is showing up, then it's possibly a OOB signal issue that a Comcast tech would need to troubleshoot with a home visit. Make sure you are not routing your coax cable through any AC surge protector strip coax ports as those will kill the OOB signal.

    You will need to contact Comcast support if the guide isn't coming back.

    I have the x1 setup. 1 dvr and 3 other boxes. The tech connected them all via hdmi and they work fine. However, my boys tv only has 1 hdmi input and they have their chromecast that they want to connect to their tvs. My one son's tv is working find using coax and the chromecast in the hdmi.

    However, when I tried to disconnect the hdmi cable on the other tv and just use coax it says there is no signal. Any suggestions?

    If you grab an X1 box and coax cable from one of your other rooms andconnect it into your boys room for testing, you would be eliminating the X1 box and cable as being the problem.

    i got the hopper when it hit floor an it took them 2 years for them to add it. it is a easy fix for Comcast. i think they want to put a pin or something on it so your kid does not hit buy accident. they right now are working pretty hard to get some off these other bugs worked out be fore they make any more changes for features..when they start coming down the line i think you will some major revamps.

    You should specify that you have an X1 DVR with cloud services so as to not confuse readers. Do you only have the problem on the SciFi channel? Are all of the recordings that this occurs on initiated on you PC or mobile devices? If so, what happens when you initiate the recording on your X1 DVR?

    I just had my X1 box installed Wednesday and I am having the same problems with my Android not detecting myX1 boxas well as the TV Remote app not detecting that I have any available DVR's. I cannot even manage any DVR's through Comcast.com. After 2 days on the phone with 10 different people, half of which could barely speak english, I was able to get a Tier 2 technician. She said it may be a national outage and has to direct the report to an engineer to troubleshoot the problem. Am awaiting a response...if I ever get one. Comcast customer service is the worst I have ever encountered. All they do is train foriengers how to answer phones and read from a script...pathetic

    the dvr device of my toshiba satellite L550-11J (bought in 2009) with windows vista 64 seems to be broken. it is a "pioneer dvd-rw dvrtd09a". it doesn`t show on windows anymore, not in the explorer, not in the device manager (if this ís the english name of it, i don`t know, i am german speaking). it doesn`t even show in the bios or boot device, so i think it is not a software problem but the hardware is broken.

    Why doesn't the dvr recording settings allow me to start a recordinglate or stop a recording early? Thus there is a need to simplify overlapping programs. There are occaisional times when a station runs a program late and the dvr prevents the new recording as it overlaps with a recording; it would be easier to start the desired recording one minute late or stop one minute early the show that is recording rather than having to set up a timed recording. Can the settings software be changed to allow this simplification?

    iGuide does allow 'clipping', which would allow a seocnd program to be cut off at the beginning by up to 4 or 5 minutes. You may need to enable it in the options:

    Menu/Menu/DVR

    Manage My DVR

    DVR Setup

    DVR Clipping, use Left/Right to turn ON.

    If you set the earlier recording first, then you can set the later recording. It will show as 'clipped' in the listing. For series recordings, you sometimes may need to 'force' it to record by simply choosing it in the guide, then choosing record.

    In the sample below, "How It's Made" is clipped because "Parks and Recreation" runs a minute long.

    Your answer is no. Networks and Hollywood studios are totally paranoid about people being able to make perfect digital copies of their material. That is why VCR's, DVD Players and Blu-ray players have copy protection schemes.

    1. You could record something on your X1 DVR and thentransferit to an old schoolDVD recorder but it would be standard definition and the recording process would be in real time so it would be slow.

    2. If you are talking about remote viewing, X1 is in the process of going cloud based meaning you could view your recorded material on smart phones, tablets and computers. This service is in it's infancy and I believe it is currently available only in Boston, Jersey, Philly and Chicago.

    I have a series recording setup. When I look at the Saved epdisode list, it shows a specific show with a episode count of (18). When I click on that show and look at the episodes, there are only 5 recorded (this happens for all series recordings, it is not unique to one show). Any idea why that count seems incorrect?

    a red letter name comcast employee will probably get to your issue shortly (refresh of codes based on previous threads). Then the recordings show up again. you could also call 877-896-8678 to see if they can make the recordings show up again.

    I'm having a few things happen with X1 dvr. When i delete and erase something it would be gone but showup again in a minute. The only way to make the program gone is to shut off the dvr everytime. When a recording begins the record light doesn't come on until the recording is finish half time time. The time index on the bottom sometimes shows 3687655 mins left. this dvr has been reset sent a refresh several times and i'm still have the same problems. The customer service people say they can't send a tech out because they have to try resolve the problem by resetting and do a refresh on it. Well i told them that has been done several times.     This is called a ghost or phantom box. You need to call the X1 hotline at 877-896-8678 and have them remove it. It's fairly common.

I'm not going to get into all of the problems with the service here (unresponsive STB, dropped audio/video, unavailable apps, buggy DVR, and on and on). All I want is to come home from work and watch a little TV. More often than not, I can't do that. Please tell me when you'll catch up.

    I have two stand alone x1 dvrs. Some of the shows I set to record will record an episode or movie on the other dvr, not the one I set it on. It does not show up on both dvrs in the recordings for you however, if I search the option, it will show like it was recorded but it will give an error that states it not available at that time, no error code. There is a filter on one dvr but both dvrs are doing the same thing. I have the cloud technology in my area now and wondered if that was affecting it. Its rather annoying since I have to wait for the program to come on demand or try to record again and hope it works as I don't usually have access to the other dvr.

    Just had a X1 replaced. The technician gave the new X1 the name "Family room". The old X1 was named "den". Now the recordings from the old X1 show up on the new x1. They are not viewable and can not be deleted. He had said something about the old dvr listings being on the "cloud" and should disappear but they have not. Again, they are just listed and can not be viewed or deleted. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    To quote ComcastAndrew from another post - "Call 1-877-896-8678 explain what you have going on and with the right rep those recordings will be gone in minutes. What should happen, when a DVR gets swapped out, the tech should do a factory reset, basically erasing all settings. Because it wasn't done the system still thinks that DVR and it's settings are still ongoing."

    If you CAN'T boot the box than you CAN´T delete them online. This can be a tricky thing. Best thing you can do is delete all the timers from online and rename your new box. Good luck.

    I now am using two Motorola DVR's hooked up by HDMI to my Onkyo TX-SR705 Reciever that are pre-X1. I use the reciver to switch from one source to another depending what want to watch. I don't know if my regional office even offfers X1 capability, and it is a bad drive over 25 milies away to find out. I don't know is a call to Comcast can give me the information for my local office.

    I can now use another sound source to go with the DVR channel I'm watching ( radio and program video ) and pay through the nose for all the Comcast hardware I am now using.

    If I can aquire a X1 DVR to replace my two DVR's, would it still leave me the ability to mix adio and video that have now? I don't know anyoned with X1 hardware to see what it can or cannot do when working through a HD reciver, and don't use the HDMI out to the TV for audio output in Reciever setup, instead of using my 5.1 audio system.

    Depending on the XR2 remote version you have, you can program it to control audio devices:

    I checked the DVR on your account. It shows you have a few scheduled recordings, and a few completed recordings.

    Can you play back the completed recordings?

    Could you be specific on the show that does not show the red dots?

    Just got the X1 platform a few weeks ago and have noticed that I am having problems on the playback of shows from the DVR to the other hubs. Occasionally the sound will drop and then the video will begin to slow and shutter to a stop. Painful!! Happens routinely, but not repeatable. Happens at different places on the show.

    Had the boxes reset from Comcast to no avail. Any suggestions/thoughts?

    Solution: Have customer service check the 'rate codes'. Apparently these rate codes tell what the box can receive. Mine were wrong. Once reset, there were no issues.

    "Forensic Files" I have "Forensic Files" set-up for a series recording on my DVR, unfortuantley the XFinity DVR recording options offer no way to select a specfic channel you only want to record on (only SD or HD.) Usually not a problem, but.... There seems to be a "hiccup" in the way this show is listed so for many of the recordings of this program the DVR records a one-hour block of CNN's news channel. Near as I can tell this block of programming isn't called this it just seems to be regular news cast. The DVR does record the actual program on a CNN sister network, HLN at its scheduled time but, still, it overwhelmingly records the CNN programming. Either this is a problem with how CNN is listing their programs, how the DVR guide is intrepeting it or something but it's pretty frustrating. It'd be nice to at the very least to be able to tell the DVR to only record this program on a specific channel rather than on whatever channel the show happens to be on.

    I had the same problem, and Comcast was no help at all with it. The solution I figured is a variant on turn it off-turn it on. Go into the menu and cancel your series recording. Then go back in and set up a new series recording. It should record fine then.

    For the past week or so, certain recordings on my DVR are skipping and stuttering.It's the only way I can explain it. One show, i watched live and it had no skipping but when I re-watched it on my DVR, it was an awful recording.

    It doesn't skip to the end of anything; when you watch the show, it will become pixelated and skip and then go back to normal. Also notice that you can't forward on certain recordings but can rewind.

    I pay too much money for these sorts of problems. I don't think I've ever gone 3 months without any problems.

    I had the old Motorlola DVR box and sourround sound throuh my Onkyo receiver - via HDMI - worked great on THX Cinema setting - I now have a Pace X1 STB connected to my Onkyo receiver by HDMI which in turn is connected to my Samsung 60" 3D TVby another HDMI cable. My X1 output resolution is set to "1080p60" and audio mode is "Surround". Surround sound very weak - no sound at all from rear. - any ideas?

    I am set up identically as you but I do not have any problems with surround sound. I can only suggest two things your might try on your own: try using a new HDMI cable or try using component cables from the X1 box to the receiver. Both will give full HD video and audio and are relatively cheap to try.

    If neither improves the audio, you might need to schedule a service call from a Comcast technician. IdF you read some of the other posts, you'll see that some people have solved their audio problems by getting an Arris STB. Only a tech would know if they are available in your area, so you might drop by the local Comcast office and ask.

    I really wish I had more advice (especially since you went to the trouble to create this separate thread!). I'm sure that if anyone has other ideas, they will chip in.

    I am able to access and control my X1 dvr from the iOS app however when I try to connect through the website I get this error... "DVR Manager is available in your area. However, we areunable to detect a compatible DVR in your household." How can I get this to work?

    I had to have my X1 dvr box replaced a few weeks ago and the scheduled recordings from the old box show up as unavailable programs on my new dvr and all the X1 companion boxes. I would like to get rid of these. The old box still shows up as one of my boxes in the iOS app too even though I no longer have it.

    When watching a TV show on your companion box you can hit the red record button on the XR2 remote and the show will record.

    There's your answer... Some areas do limit the amount of hubs you can have. Cloud DVR the way it is now doesn't add any storage space just lets you download a recording to a different device.

What the heck? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app, and I get the same errors on my phone and tablet. The recordings work just fine on my actual DVR. Anyone got ideas?

    I swear, the way the DVR function (and the guide itself) is programmed, you'd think that these were brand new technologies that didn't exist until last year.

    I'm having an issue with a show that's on two different channels.. I want to DVR every episode of it, but the X1 DVR locks you into a single channel per show.. If there is a show on DIY and at another time completely (and a completely different episode) on HGTV, you cannot record both.. It will only recognise the channel you set last.

    Why? What is the point of this?

    I have a new X1 installation in Seattle.

    Pace box with xappl-XRE-30P8 release version with PX001AN_1.2.2.p2s1_PRODsd STB version

    I've been noticing, in particular, when I have multiple recordings happening at the same time, the shows do not show in the DVR recordings. However, once there is no longer any recording, the shows will magically appear in the DVR recordings list for playback.

    VERY annoying. Especially if I'm timeshifting a show while it's still recording the show because I came home about 20 minutes late.

    Any suggestions on anything I can control? Or is this a bug in Comcast's software.

    I too am getting the hassles of the box continually resetting the levels of the power and clock lighting as well as resetting the prefered video to 720p instead of 1024i or 1024p.

    Do you know if there is going to be a fix for the recording not showing up while process, I understand your temp waywhich works and just for info if you turn your box off and on it will stop any recording in progress and restart the recording then any item that was recording will then show. really werid but it is fixable if comcast is willing to do so

Why are we still paying for this over priced over hyped service?? Just fix it - we are all willing to pay the premium price - when will it work????????? I'm tired of rebooting, and I'm tired of calling billing and I'm tired of the truck rolls - when will Colorado get the freakign update? This is unacceptable - and why make the CSR's go through the 20 questions of death to trouble shoot the same freakin known recurring X1 issues???? I am a vendor to Comcast - this is embarrassing!     Specifically - today, Premium subscription channels are not provisioned - they work a a month ago and they don;t work today - but you still bill me for the premium package. DVR does not function - doesn;t record properly, does replay. X1 box requires reboot 4-5 times a day. Finally, basic cable stations regularly cannot find signal and automatically changes to channel 2.

    I am also having intermittent "Connection Error" issues in Memphis, TN. It affects anything involving DVR (i.e. cannot FF, Pause) also cannot access the Menu. I find if I wait a bit, it works again. I started having these problems last week. Prior to that, everything worked great. Rebooting the box doesn't help, I still have the connection error. Any suggestions to help this issue are welcome.

    Is anyone having video degradation issues when integrating their directv through xbox one. I have my system connected using HDMI. The connections are as follows:

    - Directv (genie DVR) HDMI into Xbox one

    - Xbox One into Yamaha Receiver (with no processing, pass through only)

    - Yamaha Receiver to Vizio TV

    It is really visible on live sports broadcasts. It has a video feel vs. live video and the scrolling ticker is jittery (or stutters). I've reset the directv and xbox one and improves but quality does not maintain quality and reverts back to lower quality.

    The last time checked, our backward Comcast sytem here didn't have X1 capability, and don't know how to get a hold over the phone to ask at the local office that is 25 miles away from here. With my one TV Home Theater and a seperate line up the back of my townhouse that provides my cable modem and computer. I still have wired phone and am sticking with Verizon for now. As far as computer is concerned, all inside hardware is my own purchases including a wireless router and my own cable modem.

    I now have two Comcat Motorola DVR's both hooked up to my reciever by HDMI and can only record three things while watching a live show on the fourth tuner. The nearly weekly mailings get advertising X1 deals get on my nerves if it isn't available locally. I don't know enough about the cabability of the X1 HD DVR in a simple case like mine. I have to pay through the nose for the two DVR's and one X1 DVR is capable of more tuners in one DVR instead of my two. I don't know anybody that has X1 to see what it can do.

    Just had X1 DVR installed, unfortunately since DVR seems to utilized 720 as default and TV is only capable of 480 or 1080, and 1080 wont work, I have just been downgraded. Utilizing componet video output to input and everything worked fine before. Any other suggestions other than buying a newer TV or going back to my old DVR service.

    I got a new DVR to replace the defective one today. It's up and running, I can watch TV, access VOD, My DVR, etc. from the remote control. But when I go to the internet I cannot get DVR to manager to work any more (it was fine with the old DVR). I get this message: DVR Manager is available in your area. However, we are unable to detect a compatible DVR in your household.

    The new DVR is the same model as the old one, nothing else has changed that I can think of. I was able to activate the DVR online successfully.

    I have a Slingbox Solo and it was working all good when I had the earlier Comcast DVR. Now I got the X1 DVR and I connected the AV and the SVideo cable and I am just hearing audio but no video in the Slingbox app.

    It might help if you told us with X1 box you have Pace (XG1-P) or Arris (XG1-A). I am guessing you have a Pace and you are trying to use the component connectors with your Slingbox.I can think of two things. First of all, set the resolution of your X1 box to something other than 1080P. Try 1080i. Also, I recall a couple other people posting in this forum about Slingbox. I am not sure if people solved this or not. I do recall at least one forum member saying he could not get both the HDMI output and component output on his X1 box working at the same time. I would suggest you search this forum for "slingbox". I think you may find your answer.

    Several of the sitcoms I watch are now syndicated on other networks. The DVR is recording all these episodes, which show up as "new" for that channel.     I had some problems with two DVRs -- audio/video dropping out and the second DVR not recording live TV as expected. Comcast tech installed a filter on the second DVR. Now the content is not shared. The scheduled recordings show up, but the recorded content only appears on the DVR where it resides. To share content again I have to remove the filter and reboot. Still checking to determine if the audio/video dropout is fixed with the filter in place.

    Hello,

    Recently Comcat converted our home to the new X1 platform because our grey DVR box took up to 13 days to download the entire guide. They said the X1 would fix the problem and it fixed all the guide loading issues!!

    Unfortunately, there are other issues (I'm up to 31 of them so far) with the X1 DVR. The latest is becuase of hearing issues with my Son (he's almost deaf in one ear), we're starting to use closed captioning. We noticed the CC turns off after several minutes of us when view OnDemand programming. I also recently noticed the same happening on some (but not all) TV (recorded and in real time) broadcasts.

    We tried reboot, power cycle, and refreshes from Comcast. Finally level 1 sent out a tech who said Comcast X1 does NOT support closed captioning. He couldn't tell me if Comcast was dropping closed captioning, but did say it was a possiblitiy, but he didn't know the long term direction of closed captioning.

    I thought US FCC regulations require all new cable and television equpment to support closed captioning or has Comcast been supporting it but is under no obligation to continue?

    The other strange thing the tech did (yesterday, 8/22/2013) was after 45 minutes he left and never returned. He explained his leaving as his needing to talk to his support line on his phone for an hour so. He needed to do it from his truck as his battery was low. This was around 14:30 CDT and by 17:30 he had yet to return.. I called the phone number he used to contact before arriving and left a voice mail message. By 19:30 I gav e up seeing him and by today (8/23/2013 at 20:34, I have no expectation of him returning our (now) two phone messages).

    Anyone here from Comcastt who can speak to the support of closed captioning on the X1? Also if someone can speak to the long term direction of closd captioning by Comcast, especially in regards to the X2 platform.

    DVRs use the guide, which usually says a program starts at 6:00PM and ends at 7:00PM, for example, but the actual broadcast may not be that synched up with the top of the hour. You can choose to entend the start and stop times of the recordings by going into the settings of the recording.

The other HD boxes do not appear to have screens for viewing channel numbers. Is this correct? 2. The "settings" button on the XR2 remote is non-functional. When pressed, nothing shows up on the TV screen. 3) Third issue has to do with setting up closed captioning. I don't see any way to do this through the cable box. I have CC set up on my TV, but no captions are on the screen.

I don't see any way to do this through the cable box. I have CC set up on my TV, but no captions are on the screen.Press the down arrow twice, scroll right to CC.

    I was just told by one of Comcast's customer service reps that the X1 doesn't turn off via remote.

    Does anyone have a remote that turns off the X1 and your TV?

    X1 boxes are designed to stay24-7. Remotes will not turn them off. Feel free to press the power button on the box if you feel it is important to turn it off...

    Does X1 box require anyroom DVR ? I currently have 2 DVRs, and one regular box. I was informed that when I get the X1 box, that would require anyroom DVR?

    Read my experience titled X-1 and HD DVR. I wish I had read these forums as I would likelyhave kept the old DVRs. However, I do have to say that many of the X1 features are nice. Just keeping my fingers crossed that the mentioned problems dont happen.

    Although customer service says you cant run x1 and another DVR on separate TVs, someone in one of the X1 forums said he does. Also, make sure they dont inadvertently deactive any of your DVRs as all data is apparently then gone forever.

    I continue to have issues with my X1 remote on my main DVR box not responding. 50% of the time it doesnt respond even though the green light on the box indicates it is picking up the signal. If I use the phone app remote it works perfectly!

    I have paired it many times, and that doesn't fix the problem with the 2's appearing. (Have X1 DVR)

    I had my X1 system installed one week ago. Occasionally while I am watching a show I have recorded on the DVR, the show will stop. I can't fast forward or back up. I have to change channels several times then start the show over and fast forward to the spot it stopped at. Any ideas?

    No ideas how to fix it - but you're not alone. This type of thing has happened to me in the past.
