Try the basics first: Change your router channel number. Most times this works is all you have to do. Disconnect reconnect your modem. unplug it for about 10 seconds. Plug it back in. Do the same for Apples routers. Wait for everything to reboot. System PreferencesNetworkClick the Assist Me button. In the next window that pops up, click the Diagnostic button do the necessary. Otherwise -
Check that your wireless is still active when you are on battery power.
Check the properties of your wireless adapter in Control panel, Network sharing center and

Check the settings in Control panel, Power options, {select active plan}, Change settings, Change advanced settings.
Make sure you are not using the PowerSaver power plan as that has special properties that you cannot see. Balanced can be set to just about everything you need. If this is a particualr problem then it can be addressed after the main problem is solved.

    Hello,
I have a MacBook, running OS X 10.6.6. I have a wireless connection via an Airport Express connected to an RCA cable modem. I don't lose the wireless signal - the bars stay at full strength - and I don't lose an IP address, but the internet connection cuts in and out frequently (constantly when I am not connected to a power cord). If I turn Airport off and on again, I am reconnected immediately, but it will still cut out again in minutes. The connection on other computers in the house stays constant. Thank you for your help!

So he just manually typed in the DNS Server We put the WIRELESS Adapter up higher. Because I had to put on the floor. The signal strenght is better. I am running Windows XP, and Cisco VPN Client on my HP laptop connected directly to my home FIOS router - not wireless.

My VNP connects fine, but it consistently drops the connection after 2 to 60 minutes. It use to stay up for days, but I can not get it to remain connected. I have used the computer on other connections and the VPN will still stay up for days. Any suggestions?

    DB:3.50:Vpn Connection Drops xc

In the Cisco VPN client, there used to be options in the configuration section to chose between UDP and TCP modes (at one point I think it was called "behind NAT" or maybe that was second option). Try change to TCP mode and behind NAT in the options for the VPN connection. UDP only connections behind NAT routers sometimes run into issues with the NAT router closing the return packet path after a period of inactivity which can be rather short.

Is there any way to stay connected using my hidden/protected home network? thank you.

was the guest network on a different channel then your hidden network? Maybe you could try using that channel for your hidden network if it is different. Also if your router supports the 5GHZ band, I would try using that to connect the CCK since it supports 5GHZ and that band had far less interference.

If your wireless connection shows you connected then check whats the Ip address you are getting it ( Start - Run - CMD - Ipconfig ) if your computer is having a static Ip do remove the static ip from your computer.

When you hardwire your computer to the router, check if you are able to go online or not.

again. The only way to make the internet work again is for me to restart my laptop.

DB:3.38:Internet Connection Stay For A While, Then It Would Disconnect, But The Computer Says Its Connected 11

    Hi MarkellJohnson,

Welcome to the Microsoft Community. As per the problem description you are getting disconnected from internet. Provide the following information:

    · Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
    · Do you get any error message?
    · Are you using any third party security software?

I will help you with this issue. I would suggest you to follow these methods.

Method 1: Disable the security software temporarily.

Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against virus and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do have to temporarily disable it to install other software,
you should re-enable it as soon as you're done. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Method 2: Follow the steps:

Step 1: Boot the computer in safe mode with networking and check if the issue persists.

Step 2: If the issue does not persist in safe mode with networking, perform a
Clean Boot to see if there is any software conflict as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

Note: After performing the troubleshooting steps in clean boot, follow
Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state section from the link to start the computer to
    Normal startup mode.

After you used the clean boot to resolve the problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.

    a) Click Start, run.
    b) Type msconfig, and then click
    OK.
    c) The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed.
    d) Click the General tab, click
Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.
    e) When you are prompted, click
    Restart to restart the computer.

DB:3.37:My Sony Vaio Laptop With Vista Will Not Consistently Connect, And Stay Connected To My Wireless Internet. cz

    Hi Tinkerbellfancolorado,

When was it last working fine? Are you getting any error message or error codes? Any recent changes made on the computer?
There might be several causes for this issue.
Try these methods to start with.
    Method 1
    Step 1

Open Network Diagnostics by right-clicking the network icon in the notification area, and then clicking
Diagnose and repair. Make sure that all wires are connected (for example, make sure your modem is connected to a working phone jack or cable connection, either directly or through a router).
Reset your modem and router. Remove the power cord from the modem and/or router, wait at least 10 seconds, and then plug the modem and/or router back in.

    Step 2
Another reason might be windows turning off your network adapter to save power. Turn off the power-saving option in the network adapter's properties (wired network adapters only):

Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button, clicking
Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking
Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.
Right-click the connection, and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
On the Networking tab, click Configure.
On the Power Management tab, clear the Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power check box, and then click
    OK.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-Internet-connection-problems
    Method 2
Turn off firewall temporarily and check the status.
NOTE: Re-enable the firewall after you check the status. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time your antivirus /firewall software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

DB:3.33:Inspiron 9300 Intel Wireless Ip Issue cs

I'm glad to know you got it working. I actually prefer using the IntelProSet myself. As far as the WZC you might be able to go in to services.msc and stop the service reboot then go back in and restart the service to see if that corrects the problem. I don't know how it was turned off to begin with, but if you have the IntelProSet running inside of the software under tools there is an area there that says let Windows manage my wireless. Perhaps someone went to WZC and turned it on manually while this was still running and that is what caused the problem. You might try turning on WZC by disabling the IntelProSet. If this is what you did then try manually stopping and restarting the service as I suggested previously in this post.

I'm running XP and my 802.11b wireless connection keeps dropping. The microsoft hardware utility indicates no connection at all but the linksys GUI shows good signal strength but will only stay connected for 30-60 seconds at a time. Linksys has been no help whatsoever. Confirmed both wireless card and router work on another system. Any thoughts?

My internet will not stay connected. The cable company has been out several times and everything looks fine. Here's what I've been noticing though. The Internet seems to drop and then I right click the wireless network connection icon in the system tray
and see "WirelessVirus". I can't find anything about this. It's on both my home desktop running Windows 7 and on my wife's laptop running the same. I can't seem to stay connected for more than 20 minutes at most. This doesn't always show up, but when it
does I find the connection dropped. I can't remove it because when I can't view it's properties. I try to manage network connections, but it doesn't show there. Please help.

    Hi,
    1. Since when are you facing this issue?
    2. Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
    Method 1:
    Follow the link below:
You may experience connectivity issues or performance issues when you connect a mobile PC that is running Windows Vista or Windows 7 to a wireless access point
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928152

    Method 2:
You can try the following workaround and check if it works:
    Disable the IP Helper service:
    a. Hold the Windows key and type R, enter "services.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter
    b. Scroll down to the IP Helper service, right click on it and select Properties
    c. In the dropdown box that says "Automatic" or "Manual", set it to Disabled and then click on "Apply"
    d. Then click on "Stop" to stop the service from running in the current session
    e. Click OK to exit the dialog

    Method 3:
    Follow the below link:
Update a driver for hardware that isn't working properly

DB:3.29:Windows 7 And Not Keeping Internet Connection kf

I have a new HP desktop computer with Windows 7, I also have two laptops one with XP and on with Vista. The new computer with Windows 7 is my main computer, it is 30 days old. It is connected to a Linksys Router via an ethernet cable. Cable is fine,
tested with other computer. The laptops work fine either in wireless or wired config. The computer with Windows 7 and is hardwired will not stay connected to the internet. Any ideas for help?

DB:3.29:Windows 7 And Not Keeping Internet Connection kf

    Hi
First look into the Router's menus (manually do not use the lame Easylink).
Make sure that everything is configured correctly, and that there is enough IPs in the DHCP range for all computers and network devices.
The wire connection on the computer should be this way.
First scan the computer for Viruses and Malwares.
When you are sure that it is clean.
Check the Device Manager for valid Wire card entry.

    http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/net_dm.jpg

If there is No valid entry, delete any Bogus Entry, and re-install the Wire card's Drivers.
    ----------------------------------
Try to install the latest drivers of the card from the support page of the manufacturer.

Download the drivers and unpack them to a folder of your choice.

In the Device manger, right click on the adapter.

Click on Update Drivers, and choose the Browse my computer for drivers,

Choose let me pick from a list, Click on Have a Disk and point to the folder with the Drivers.
    -------------------------------------
Check the Network connections to make sure that you have a Local Area Connection Icon/Entry, and that the Properties of the Icon (right click on the Icon) are correctly configured with TCP/IPv4 protocol in the Network Connections Properties.

    http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/net_connection_tcp.jpg

Log to the Router's menu from a working computer and make sure that the DHCP is On and it is configured to assign IPs that can cover the number of computer that are connected (few more will be even better).

Switch Off the computer and the Router, Reboot the Router, and the computer.

Right click on the Wire card Network Connection, choose Status, Details, and see if it got an IP and the rest of the settings.
    On IP status.

TCP/IP and its variables typically look like this.

Right click on the Wire card Network Connection, choose Status, Details, and see if it got an IP and the rest of the settings.

Typical TCP/IP status looks like this.

    http://www.ezlan.net/Win7/status-nic.jpg

Description is the card manufacturing data.

Physical address is the card's MAC number.

The xx should be a number from 0 to 255 (all xx same number).

yy should be from 0 to 255

zz should be from 0 to 255 (all zz the same number.

The lease date should be valid to the current time.

*Note 1. IP that starts with 169.xxx.xxx.xxx is not valid functional IP.

*Note 2. There might be an IPv6 entries too. However, they are not functional for Internet traffic or LAN. They are needed for Win 7 special HomeGroup configuration.
    ------------------------
Also Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers on what is some time called
the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party Firewall instructions

    General example,
    http://www.ezlan.net/faq.html#trusted

Please Note that some 3rd party Software Firewalls keep blocking aspects of Local Traffic even it they are turned Off (disabled) . If possible configure the Firewall correctly, or totally uninstall it to allow clean flow of local network traffic.
If the 3rd party software is uninstalled or disables, make sure that Windows native Firewall is On .

I get prompted for a username and password (it doesn't connect when I input them) or I get a message saying "unable to connect". I have reset the modem multiple times. When I check the set-up of my modem I can see that the iPad is visible and has been assigned and IP address. I have reset the network settings on the iPad multiple times as well. This problem has only started recently. Anybody got any suggestions as to how I can solve this?ThanksKevin

I've updated my computer, checked all drivers to be up to date, and connected to other wireless internet routers.  But when I am at home the new FiOS router just keeps connecting and disconnected.  I am unable to stay connected to other people who have FiOS wireless internet. However, I can connect and stay connected to any other wireless network.  Internet will stay connected if I plug in an ethernet cable.  My girlfriend's old computer works fine with FiOS however it would occationally disconnect.  I just brushed off my problem as a Vista compatability issue until my girlfriend got a new Vista computer and I'm left here with a on again off again connection.  What can I do to fix this?  My computer is a Acer Aspire 5100 laptop with a AMD Turion 64x2 processor 2GB ram and a Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter.

DB:3.28:Wireless Verizon Fios Wont Stay Connected. a9

    Hi,

Based on your description, the wireless network adapter does not have issues, because it works properly when you access other Internet connections. The most possible cause is the router that may be damaged, or the incompatibility between the router and the wireless network adapter. Other possible causes are the installed firewall/anti-virus that block the connection to the FiOS router, and some incorrect router settings.

I suggest that you disable the anti-virus and firewall on all of the problematic computers. Does the issue persist?

If the issue still occurs, it can be caused by some incorrect settings in network protocol and the router. Please click Start, in the Start Search box type ncpa.cpl and press Enter. In the opened window, right-click the connection for the PiOS router, choose Properties. Double-click Internet Protocol Version 4, make sure that IP address and DNS are obtained automatically.

Also, please check the router settings according to the instruction of the router.

If the above information does not help. Please contact Verizon support, and check hardware wellness of the router.

Hope the above information is helpful.

    Hello @HAWKEYEUSER,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand your daughter's notebook is having issues connecting to the campus network.

The bad part here is that the troubleshooting necessary for this type of issue is next to impossible. If the notebook works fine at home there is no hardware issues and has to be some sort of networksettingson the network she is connecting to at the school. She may need to contact the campus IT for help with the network,

    Some things she can try:

Reset the TCP/IP settings on thePC:1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.4. Restart your PC and test.It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.4. Restart your PC and test.Reinstall the network adapter drivers:1. Download the drivers from here but do not run them yet.2. Go to your start screen/menu and type Device Manager.3. Expand Network adapters.4. Right click on the wireless adapter and choose Uninstall.5. Run the downloaded drivers from step 1.6. Restart your PC and test.If those three steps do not resolve the issue, try this document published by Microsoft for networking issues: Wired and wireless network problems. You can change the operating system with the dropdown in the upper-right corner of the document.

Let me know if that helps!

For me this has happened with the cable end, where the clip snapped off.

Have you tried swapping ends with the cable. If the cable is the problem, then the "won't stay connected" problem will move to the other device and the cable end will stay connected to the PC.

In that case, it may be only the cable that needs replacing.

Over the past couple weeks my laptop will not stay connected to any wifi network. It says I'm connected works for a few minutes, and then freezes. I'm also getting random BSOD associated with the wireless adapter. It is still under warranty, but I really don't want to be without it for a month to ship it back.

Download inSSIDer from http://www.metageek.net and see how many other Wireless A/P's (Access Point) are around you. It could be that there are too many A/P's on the same wireless channel, and that is causing your problem. I have found in my area, that Channel 11 is the most congested channel around my house.

I am experiencing intermittent loss of connection after 10 to 15 minutes with the WRT160N. I just set up the network today.I have one desktop that is connected to the router in position 1 and one wireless notebook that is brand new. After using the program included to fix my connection problems it will run fine for 10 minutes then lose connection. I am using cable as my internet provider. The lit box "1" will stay solid for a little while then flash. Are there any tips or tricks I am missing? This should be a very simple setup.

    DB:3.22:Wrt160n Connection Issues sj

sabretooth is right, if your router's firmware is v2.0.02 build 011, then, you need to downgrade your router's firmware to v2.0.02 build 008, this will resolve your issue...

Poor wireless connections are often caused by radio interference from other 2.4 GHz devices. This includes wireless phones, wireless baby monitors, microwave ovens, wireless mice and keyboards, wireless speakers, and your neighbor's wireless network. In rare cases, Bluetooth devices can interfere. Even some 5+ GHz phones also use the 2.4 Ghz band. Unplug these devices, and see if that corrects your problem...

I have an HP Mini 2140. I was using WPA based security and had no problems with my wireless connection. However I had to switch to WEP security (to support myiPod Touch)and now the wireless connection on the HP mini 2140 keeps dropping. It will stay connected for about 5 minutes. If I go back reenter the WEP key it will reconnect but then drop again after5 minutes. The other devices I have connectedto the same wireless network with WEP(Apple iTouch and Sony VAIO notebook) are not having this problem.

Forget about using the internal Broadcom WLAN for wireless in a WEP network . . . ain;t happening (read my other posts).

What finally worked for me was to use a $5 Chinese USB 802.11 b/g 54mbps adapter in one of my USB ports and everything worked perfectly.

At the end of the day I can only conclude that the Broadcom WLAN (internal) just will not work with ANY driver found on the HP download area . . .

HiDo this to upgrade your firmware. Since you already downloaded the bin file, we can proceed.1. Run a browser. Type 192.168.1.1 on the address bar. Leave the username blank and type admin for the password.2. Select the Administration tab. Click the Firmware Upgrade subtab. Browse for the bin file. Wait for the upgrade to finish and do a power cycle on your router.

First, thanks to jmwillis for assistance over the last couple of days. I have an update -- that I'm hoping means I'm narrowing down my wireless connection problem.

jmwillis suggested that I make sure Windows is managing the connection -- or something to that extent by checking the available checkbox.

I do that -- and it works fine. But then, randomly, it seems -- it will lose the connection. If I go to Dos command, and do ipconfig/release -- then go into Network Connections and the tab that has the "Let Windows manage" checkbox, it's unchecked again.

If I've released the IP address, and then check the box, bingo -- it reconnects. But I can't figure out how to make it stay connected, and that checkbox stay checked.

Man, do I feel stupid. Thanks in advance for any additional assistance.

See if you have a TCP/IP address by taking the following steps:

Start | Run "cmd" [ press Enter key ]

You will get a black DOS "pane" and type

    C: [Enter key]

    CD \ [Enter key]

    MD DOWNLOAD [Enter key]

    CD DOWNLOAD [Enter key]

    IPCONFIG /ALL My.txt [Enter key]

    EXIT [Enter key]

You can now go to "My Computer" and the "C:" drive and look in the folder DOWNLOAD for the "My.txt" and read it in notepad (or wordpad) and see what it says about your configuration. If there is no TCP/IP address then something is not working right with DHCP (which assigns your address dynamically). The best.

    DB:3.17:Wireless Adaptor 8f

    Hi crmrpm,

Linksys wireless adaptersnormally do not require extra configuration to achieve optimum wireless reception as it is a plug and play device. However, there are factors that need to be considered to maximize the connectivity.

Here are the possible solutions that you may do:

    * Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for the adapter to work properly on your computer.

    * It would be best if the router is within the line of sight of the computer. This will ensure a stable wireless connection between the devices.

    * Ensure that the computer has the latest drivers installed for your adapter. Updated drivers for wireless adapters and firmware for routers add more features and improve functionality.

*Its recommended to pair or connect Wireless-N adapters to Wireless-N routers. Should there be a mix of Wireless-AC and Wireless-N adapters connecting to the network, it would be best to set the wireless network mode to Mixed.

    Hope these helps!

    Hello ValerieMusic,
    1. What is the make and model of the wireless router that you are using?
    2. Did you make any changes prior to the issue?
    3. Was it working properly before?
The issue you face may depend on the following reasons.
    i. Driver update not done properly.
ii. The network driver is not compatible with your Windows 7 system.
Please try updating the wireless driver from the manufacturer website and check if that fixes the issue.
Also try the following method and check if that fixes the issue:
    Method 1:
Try running the Network troubleshooter by following the information from the link below:

    5. Click OK to exit the dialog

    Method 5:
    Disable the DHCP Broadcast Flag:
    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/928233
Important: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For
added protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft
    Knowledge Base:
    Back up the registry
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-the-registry

Windows 7 cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers
To resolve this issue, disable the DHCP BROADCAST flag in Windows 7. To do this, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start Search box, and then click regedit in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
    2. Locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{GUID}
    3. In this registry path, click the (GUID) subkey that corresponds to the network adapter that is connected to the network.
    4. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD (32-bit) Value.
    5. In the New Value #1 box, type DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, and then press ENTER.
    6. Right-click DhcpConnEnableBcastFlagToggle, and then click Modify.
    7. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

By setting this registry key to 1, Windows 7 will first try to obtain an IP address by using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets. If that fails, it will try to obtain an IP address without using the BROADCAST flag in DHCP Discover packets.

Our HP laptop can see and connect to our wireless router, but it won't stay connected. I don't think it's the internet, router, or modem. I have a desk top and XBox connected directly into the router and neither have any problems. However, I can connect the laptop to other wireless connections around me and it stays connected to those. Help please!

Wireless connection to what? Sounds like a router problem, so you may get better help from a forum which specializes in that (e.g. a manufacturer's support forum, not a Microsoft one). Also, some ISPs won't helpunless you restore a direct modem connection,
so if that's working properly, often you might be out of luck getting help from that side anyway.

    Good luck

I have a Tenda router and Realtek USB wireless adapter. My 8200 has XP svce pk3. The adapter will not stay connected. Some times it shows connected with 100% signal strength and after few seconds drops out. I cannot find any radio switch on this laptop. Fn/F2 does not work and there is no mention of wireless in the bios settings. I feel that the radio is not switched on but how do I do this?? Is my configuration incorrect?

    Any help would be appreciated

DB:3.15:Wireless Keeps "Dropping" During Pandora Use mf

Every time I connect to Pandora it will play 1-2 songs, then it says my internet connection is not working and gives me the option to test it or fix it later. What gives? My computers and phones all stay connected via wireless.

DB:3.15:Wireless Keeps "Dropping" During Pandora Use mf

You are experiencing the reason I always recommend that one insists on a hard wired connection rather than wireless. The Directv system puts big demands on a home network and "burps" that a computer doesn't even notice are a big deal to streamed music or video files.

    DB:3.15:Aol Connection Problems c3

I usea WRV 200 wireless router in my office. My wife's like to use AOL9.1 on her computer and connects to the internet through this wireless router. AOL disconnects fairly regularly and will not let her sign back on. The only way to reconnect is to reset the modem. It will then reconnect but will not stay connected very long. She can connect to the internet through IE at all times while this is going on.

I have tried to get her off AOL but she loves her AOL. Anyone have any suggestions of things to try?

DB:3.15:My Dell Inspiron 530 Will Not Stay Connected To The Wireless. Please Help! 8z

When we first bought the computer, it worked fine but we sent it with my oldest sister to college and she messed it up. Since she brought it back, it will not stay connected to our home wireless network. It will stay connected for about an hour and then it will quit and then the computer has to be restarted for it to work again. I checked for all the updates and the wireless card and everything was fine.

DB:3.15:Wireless Internet Connection Wont Stay Connected cj

Yesterday, I purchased a new wireless router. It worked fine then, but today it continuously says it doesn't have internet connection after short minutes. It shuts off my tabs and pops a screen that says I don't have connection or something with a dinosaur.
(I'm using Google Chrome.) But then after a minute or two, it corrects itself and gains its connection. It's bothering. What do I do?

DB:3.15:Wireless Internet Connection Wont Stay Connected cj

    1) Is the antenna in a vertical | position.
    2) Make sure nothing is blocking a line of sight between the PC and the router, just the position of your body can cause intermittent connections if your too close to the wireless adaptor.

I can get my Direct Cinema connected to the internet. At times I do have to go turn the power on and off on my router for cinema to recognize my WEP key password, but once I am connected it will not stay connected. The WPAN light on the Direct Cinema connection kit will stay on for a little bit then go off. I can only download like 10% of a movie at a time before I loose connection again. Don't know what is going on.

    DB:3.14:Valet M10 Will Not Stay Connected 3d

Have desktop using AM10 and a laptop connected with an M10. All seems well then for no apparent reason I can no longer reach the internet. The symbol shows the connection still exists. Unplugging the M10 for 30 seconds and restarting resolves the problem. But the problem is happening frequently, sometimes when I'm active on the web, sometimes after a period of in-activity.

    Suggestions?

    DB:3.14:Valet M10 Will Not Stay Connected 3d

Made the changes recommended. Doubled check to assure they were changed.. They were

    Channel to 11.

    Fragmentation Theshold to 2201

    RTS to 2202

Performance seemed (I'm not technical enought to quantify) improve significantly.

Unfortunately, the problem of losing connection continues. Have not been able to determine a pattern. It happens sometimes when I'm using the system, other times it occurs after a period of computer inactivity. it always happens on both the desktop and the laptop at the same time. A disconnect and reconnect (after 30 sec) always restores the ability to browse. The wireless active indicator on the right of the start bar always shows the connection continues to exist.

For 3 days after reporting the problem on this site, and before making the changes recommended I replaced the M10 with my old wireless router a Linksys WRT54GR. (During a 'problem' period Linksys tech spt by phone recommended replacing the old router with the new.) The WRT54GR worked perfectly for the 3 days.

Any recommendations as to how I can get the new technology M10 to preform like the old technology WRT54GR?

    Thanks

Linksys Router (6700), MAC filtering enabled, Windows Vista (64). Wireless will not stay connected.

DB:3.14:Hp Deskjet 3520 Will Not Stay Connected 87

Set a static IP in the printer outside the DCHP range of the router. Power cycle both and connect again and test. I assume you are using MAC filtering for a reason, but WPA2-AES is all you need for security. Now try.
