DB:5.20:Expression Pedal Isn't Recogonized When Recording xj

I am able to play my Novation Remote SL and logic records the notes, after touch, mod wheel, and external sustain pedal, but will not record the expression pedal plugged into the keyboard controller right along side the sustain pedal. I AM able to hit Command-L and assign that expression pedal to a parameter, like the wah pedal in logic's pedal board. Its so cool, and that seems to work perfectly, But for whatever reason, the control change data isn't being recogonized and recorded along with the rest of the performance data. Please help.

DB:5.20:Expression Pedal Isn't Recogonized When Recording xj

Oh thank you so much. This makes sense now. If I assign the exp pedal to a pedalboard wah, then ofcourse I want it to latch to the wah automation track. I was under the impression that my assignments are only valid for instruments and plugs when I highlight that particular track. It seems to me, that there must be a preference to allow the exp pedal to default back to CH11 when not using the Wah I assigned to it. But I guess it's so easy to assign it and then delete it, no big deal.

    Hi,

I use GB09 for recording guitar and bass to backing tracks and use either Guitar Rig 4 or Amplitube 3 as inserts in GB09. I use an Apogee GiO as an audio interface - sounds fantastic.

I'm looking at adding a Roland FV500L expression pedal via the dedicated GiO expression pedal input socket. This should allow me to use the expression pedal as a Vol/Wah/modulation or whatever I assign it to do.

My question is - Where are the "movements" of the expression pedal stored? - I understand that the track I record in GB09 is the native sound of the guitar/bass and that this is processed upon playback (or while monitoring) by the presets in GB09 and/or GR4 and A3.

So how do my movements on the expression pedal get stored in GB09 so that they are replicated and repeated upon playback?

I can't see how it works

So, I'm using a Yamaha P-140 hooked up with my Macbook Pro using a Midi-USD cable. I'm mostly using it for Logic Pro X and Sibelius, and it works just fine. However when I use the sustain pedal, it's playing an E3 note and it's messing up all the sound adding a lot of reverb. Now, this isn't a problem when I'm using the piano as it is. It's also not a problem with either Logic or Sibelius, cause when I'm testing it with the "Sound and MIDI Setup" app on Mac, the sustain pedal is recognized as one of the "hammers" on the keyboard.I have no idea as how to fix this problem, and it's really annoying having to play super legato when I'm recording. Thanks in advance.Note: The keyboard have an "AUX Pedal" input and a "Sustain pedal" input.USB MIDI Cable specs:(As written on the package)- Built-in driver- USB powered and Class Complaint for true plug play. Just connect to a computer USB socket for automatic installation of the driver.- 1 in + 1 out MIDI interface; 16 MIDI input channels 16 MIDI output channels- LED's indicate power on, MIDI in signal and MIDI out signal.- Supports Windows XP, Vista and Mac OS X operating systemsAditional info:Now, I've seen the event-recording in Logic for when I use the pedal, and it's picking up 2 different signals. The first one is a "Controller" (as it say under "status") with the info "Sustain", the next 2 have the status "Note" each one triggering an E3.I looked it up and the pedal is a Yamaha FC3 half damper sustain pedal. I'm not an expert when it come to pedals, but I believe a half damper is a pedal with multiple trigger points? Giving you different amounts of sustain depending on how much you're "pressing it".

I had this same problem. Perused too many forums. Literally scratched my head at one point. But I found the problem! It ended up being my MIDI USB cable. It dawned on me the cable that I use in my live rig didn't have this sustain pedal problem, but my home studio rig did - I tried swapping the cable, and voila! No problem! Perhaps the dodgy cable simplifies midi messages and therefore sends both E4 (midi note 64) and sustain (CC 64).My good cable has a picture of an S-shaped/Treble-cleff-shaped figure on a music staff printed on the adapter. My dodgy cable has "USB MIDI" printed. Not sure if that helps - might need to just trial and error a few different cables.Hopefully this works for you.

Hello together,I just searched around in the community, but I find no answer to my problem.Im using Mainstage 3. By using the steinway piano I recognized a problem with my sustain pedal. When I push a key with the same velocity value the piano sounds different with and without sustain pedal. I assume, that mainstage uses the wrong sample. The sustain is working fine. I have a graduaded sustain pedal. When Im pushing the pedal only a little bit (value CC64 - 20) the sound is right. When Im pushing the pedal complete down ( Value CC64 20) mainstage is using the wrong sample.Thank you in advance for your help.

DB:2.73:Mainstage Ist Using The Wrong Sample Using Sustain Pedal jp

OK, I've just tried it myself and it works perfectly. But there is one additional step: After deleting the groups which select the "pedal" samples, the respective zones which were originally assigned to these groups are still present and must also be removed. This can be done on the "Zones" page. Just select all zones which are not assigned to any groups and delete them. The result is quite nice actually. I can imagine that for certain musical styles, particularly when a bit more "bite" is required, this edited version might work considerably better than the original.I agree with you that the "pedal" samples in the original "Steinway Piano 2" EXS instrument are too dull.EDIT: OK I see. You left the groups in place and just edited the controller values. That's of course another way of doing it.Anyway, it's nice to see that you accomplished what you were looking for.

Hi,I just purchased a new iMac recently as well as an M-Audio Fast Track MKii audio interface. I am a complete beginner to home recording, so I am just trying to figure out the basics of Garageband at this point. No user guide came with either Garageband or the M-Audio interface, so I'm having to learn what I can from what I can find online. One particular issue I need help with is with the interface. When I plug my electric guitar into the interface and set a specific amp and effects pedal in Garageband, I cannot hear what it sounds like when I play my guitar. All I can hear is the guitar with a clean tone through my Sony studio headphones (I don't have monitors at this point). When I record some music with the amp and effects pedal settings and play it back, I can hear the specific tone that I set. How do I set up Garageband so that I can actually hear the amp and effects pedal settings while I am playing my guitar without just hearing it when I play back something I recorded? I'm sure there has to be some setting that allows me to do that. Thanks for the help!

    DB:2.72:Newbie To Garageband xd

Yes, my headphones are plugged into the headphone socket in the interface, and I can hear my guitar when I play it. It's just that I can't hear a change in the tone of the guitar when I adjust the amp/effects pedal settings in Garageband. It's just a clean guitar sound I hear. I'll give your suggestion a try and see if that works. Thanks!

Using a USB Uno MIDI interface with a keyboard connected also via USB. In recording MIDI tracks and VI's: there is a measurable gap starting from the beginning of the track before the pedal effects reach the audio.

Recording a Native Instrument VI along with a MIDI track both tracks will give me no expression or sustain pedal until about 12 bars in; then it responds normally. It's kind of like a flow of water that drips and then all of a sudden rushes like a waterfall. So I chalk this up to the function of the USB MIDI interface but is that it (because I've tried everything else)?

What's strange is at first the NI plugin was set to MIDI channel ALL and the keyboard to 1, so I switched the plugin over to 1 and it kicked in the pedals right away. But it seems this was a fluke because in only the time of using the track it went back to this behavior. _Noting that the MIDI track itself has never given me back the pedals from the first measure._

And of course you would say why not just use a controller keyboard. Ah, so it seems Logic 8 it. That is this new "Pro Tools Front (or rear) End" refuses to recognize a keyboard with internal and external ports: even when I make it use a file from 7 which has the environment settings correctly defined.

I'm going to try to escalate my echelon over there but it's got me worried-

As of tonight, the sustain pedal on my Yamaha P-120 controller keyboard intermittently does not shut off the sustain in Logic Pro X (say every 2-3 times I apply sustain and Lift off the pedal). When a note sticks, I have to press the sustain pedal again to unstick it. When I check the Events list, I notice the sustain number values for the sticking notes are not at 0.I restarted Logic, my interface and computer and the problem did not go away. Also, the sustain pedal works beautifully with the Yamaha's built in sounds so I don't think its the pedal. I've tried using another pedal just to make sure and the problem was still there. Hello everybody!!! Sorry my english!!

I wanted to ask a question about the expression pedal for the Mainstage 2.A see if you can fix me.

I looked in forums but not resolved.

I am setting the mainstage 2, the expression pedal. I've tried it with 2, which I like most is the FC7 Yamaha and Korg EXP-2.

I have also tried it on two keyborads controllers that I have the Axion 61 - Maudio and UF8 of CME.

In all combinations never have the full range of 0 to 127.

It is always 64 to 127.
I've gotten from 0 to 64 with other configurations, but never from 0 to 127.

    You know what the problem?

    DB:2.64:Mainstage 2 - Expression Pedal ,Midy Only 64 To 127!!!!???!?!?! fd

As MackeZwo said, you might be using the wrong kind of cable. The other problem might be that your pedal is not compatible with your controllers. There are several methods of wiring up expression pedals, many of which are not compatible with each other. It might be possible to reprogram your axiom or UF8 to a different mode, however often it is not an option. If you search google you can find information on making your own adapter, or you can buy a pedal from the manufacturer or your keyboard. I know that for example my yamaha pedals do not work with my edirol keyboards, so I imagine you are running into the same issue.

Also as MackeZwo hinted, you will almost always want to use a stereo TRS cable for your pedals (assuming the cable is detachable or your trying to extend its length).

I'm trying to use an expression pedal with Omnisphere in Mainstage but the pedal is controlling the volume of the sound. How do I stop this so that I am only controlling the parameters I have selected in the modulation matrix in Omnisphere? Thanks

DB:2.63:How To Stop Expression Pedal From Changing Patch Volume 7k

the problem seems to be that when you set Controllers:Output to Expression(11) it controls the Expression disc/dial at the top of the channel which controls the volume IN to the channel and if you set the Controllers:Output to Volume(7) it controls the volume Fader. the first is pre-fader volume and the second 'post'-fader volume.here's what i don't understand. if i change the Controllers:Input to anything other than Expression(11), then it reverts back to controlling the Expression disc/dial. so why is Controllers:Output to Expression(11) always controlling the pre-fader input? why can't i change where that 'goes'? i only have 4 choices. the reason i don't directly map it is because i use my MINILAB to change MIDI Channels and so i when i'm on MCh1 it only plays and controls the EP on channel one. MCh2 plays and controls the lead on channel 2, etc through 4 channels. this way i can switch between the channels by selecting such on my MINILAB controller. to add another issue, the expression pedal i'm using is from my Apogee GiO and it doesn't change channels..it goes to all Expression controls everywhere. Caleb^ i discovered that i had the Expression Pedal 'knob' set to Automatic. this for some reason sends it to all my channels even though they are on different MIDI channels/inputs. when i set it to just one input it only controls the Expression disc/dial for the channels that are mapped to that input (Keyboard1). still, i'd like for it to change channels when i change MIDI on my MINILAB, though that seems like an impossible desire. second, it still doesn't explain why Expression is functionally synonymous with pre-fader gain.

Sustain events need no special enabling in Logic. So you do not see any message in the LCD MIDI monitor? You may want to check your Novation maniual then, because the pedal is just a dumb switch, the MIDI message is generated by the Novations' MIDI engine. You might need to configure that correctly first. There are options in Logic to disable or filter certain MIDI messages, but these are off by default.

DB:2.58:Unwanted Messages/Events At The End Of A Midi Loop zf

We came across a serious bug (it is serious for our product) when using the javax.sound.midi.Sequencer to loop a MIDI file. Basically we do this:
    sequencer.setLoopStartPoint(0);
    sequencer.setLoopEndPoint(1920);
sequencer.setLoopCount(Sequencer.LOOP_CONTINUOUSLY);If we connect the sequencer to a hardware MIDI device the loop playback sounds broken. There is a considerable delay every time it loops. This does not happen with the Java Sound Synthesizer. Unfortunately, we can not use it. We need to address external devices.

We tried to use a virtual MIDI cable (for example "LoopBe Internal MIDI") to get a dump of the MIDI output. The output can be seen below. There are two problems:

*1st*, we do not want the All Notes Off messages. It seems these messages are created for every channel where notes are played before (we played some notes on channel 0 and 1 in this example). But we want all notes to continue playing at the end of the loop. How to get rid of the "All Notes Off" messages?

*2nd*, we do not want all the Pitch Bend and Sustain Pedal messages. The messages seem to confuse hardware synthesizers in some way. Additionally, the messages are useless because we don't use Pitch Bend or Sustain Pedal at all in the loop.

Example output (the first two table columns show the MIDI ticks and the channel number):
    ...
3447000, 9, Note OffThis was the last expected "Note Off" message from the loop. From this point, all messages seen here are not intended to be send. Were do they come from? (It's not the MIDI file we are using. The same happens with an empty sequence.) How to get rid of them?

DB:2.58:Expression Pedal Keeps Defaulting To All The Way Down ks

I've set my expression pedal to control different attributes in different patches. Mostly volume. And it seems like whenever I switch to a new patch, it very often defaults to sounding as if the pedal was all the way down, even though it is all the way up. For example, if it's mapped to the volume of a piano sound, so that the piano is all the way off when the pedal is up and the piano is at normal volume when the pedal is down, and then I switch to that patch while the pedal is all the way up, a lot of the time I can hear piano notes when I play, when according to how I set it up, the volume should be all the way down.Any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

hey all - would appreciate any advice you can give on this issue.

i am using a yamaha keyboard and sustain pedal as a controller for logic express 7. i am using native instruments' kore 2 as my midi interface.

when i record into logic express (through the kore 2), the logic application records all of my note data and pedal data, but everytime i depress the pedal some of the note data drops out.

as i am playing, everything sounds fine.

when i go back to play the recording, i can see that the pedal data is included as midi data, but each time the pedal was depressed the note data is missing.

    very odd, no?

i am using the EXSP24 as my sound source within logic.

I never had this issue with Garageband until the newest update. I am on 10.0.2. I have my keyboard connected using MIDI. I recorded a song using the sustain pedal on my keyboard and it recorded fine. When I went to edit the song, cut the track to delete some errors, I noticed the sustain would disappear from half the song. I could'nt find a way around it so I re-recorded the song ensuring I made no errors since I wouldn't be able to edit them. The sustain was there on multiple playbacks of the recording. When I sent the completed song to my iTunes, the sustain was gone. Is anyone else having this issue, does anyone know how to fix this? It is driving me crazy.

DB:2.56:Assigning Foot Pedal To Tap Tempo In Mainstage 2 m8

    Hi everyone,

I've been trying to assign my foot pedal (a Yamaha FC5 plugged into the expression pedal port of a Novation ReMOTE 37SL) to tap tempo in Mainstage 2, but no luck. I can get the pedal to send data, but it's not resulting in the behavior I want -- namely, tapping the pedal replicates tapping Ctrl+T on the keyboard.

What's the proper way to do this? (I also have an M-Audio SP-2 sustain pedal, which has a polarity switch, that I can use.)

    Thanks!

DB:2.56:Assigning Foot Pedal To Tap Tempo In Mainstage 2 m8

Concerning Tap Tempo, I confirm that in my opinion it's very badly implemented in MainStage : tempo is computed between every two successive taps, which make it very unstable (unless you are a robot), whereas in applications like Ableton Live, it's computed on an average of 4 taps, making it way more precise. The 2-tap is ok for setting an delay tempo, but not ok when you are dealing with rythmic loops that you want to syncronise with you real band playing.
I've already sent a message to the support team, don't really believe in it but one never knows!

DB:2.55:Volume Pedal Lowest Value Is 118... mk

I'm using a Yamaha volume pedal going to my VX8 on Pedal B. The default parameter of this is Expression, but even when I change it to volume in the controller, when it is fully back, the value in Main Stage is 118, and it doesn't start to tick forward till I'm 3/4 of the way up on it. There is no calibration setting on the pedal, and this same volume pedal works fine with my Triton Studio... I really use this pedal a lot when I'm playing organ, and this little problem could make things very inconvenient... Any ideas? I thought that this might be a controller issue since the controller is what sends the value, but I've got a UF 60, and I have the same exact problem with it...

DB:2.55:Volume Pedal Lowest Value Is 118... mk

Sounds like a polarity issue, which is common whenever you use the FC-7 with anything other than Yamaha. You can either rewire the TRS yourself, or for less hassle, order one of these:

As said, you could create a Transformer filter in the Environment to take out the middle values of the pedal with different values, but I can see no way to remove/filter the "multiple identical value".When you say you are "not sure", you just mean you don't know? Because you mention nothing after that. When I say I'm not sure of something, it is generally followed by the thing I am unsure off: "but I think they are the KA5 and the FU22". But you say nothing. That info is still needed, so I can find you a manual telling you if and how you can make it produce only 0 and 127 events. As for the 0000127127127127 issue, I still think you have either created a MIDI loop, or the mechanical switch on the pedal has corrosion issues. Eitherway, filtering is not the solution here, primarily because it can't be done for one issue, and it depends on yet unknown (unsure?) factors if it can be done for the other.Bottom line being that these extra sustain events don't do anything but look superfluous (which they are) but they do not interfere with Logics' operation or have any adverse influence on the notes that are playing.

Your setup sound like it should be working fine. I do think the iRig had a requirement of using a stereo output only I think this has something to do with the stereo plug and mono plugs looping or causeing crosstalk not sure. But if it's working now that's all that counts.

Thanks, DaCaptain. No problems with the interior of the MPK 88 - I checked as you suggestedI figured out the problem - it was a software setting. Parameters on the expression pedal were set wrong, I had to manually adjust "channel pressure" to "absolute" in the Layout tab. Strange, I automapped it in the past and had no trouble - wonder why it wouldn't do the same? Maybe when I redid the layout it messed with the settings somehow. Whatever.

I realized that changing between internal audio and my konnekt interface confuses MBP. I had a similar problem with L8: I had as a key command my pedal for selecting "next track". When I switched between konnekt and internal audio L8 could not "remembere" the key command next track. It didnot work, although it was listed, I could read the key command. Ihad to relearn it to L8 and then it worked again.

Hello Bill_S_0509, It appears your new keyboard may be faulty. Do you happen to have another keyboard that you could try and see if it works normally?

If you do and it works normally, you might get in touch with HP Product Support and see if they can send you a new keyboard.

Hello,I'm using the organ evb3 in mainstage. I have a seperate controller for the leslie speed and set the leslie speedcontrol to "Off". Formerly, this way, I could use my sustain pedal as real sustain pedal for the organ as you do normally for piano for example. But since my last update to mainstage 2.1.3. it doesn't work any more. I can hold the notes by pressing the pedal, but they don't turn off when I get off from the pedal, and they keep on playing till I press panic.I know, the real organ doesn't have a sustain pedal, but it is a very important function for me. I think the problem isn't mainstage but it's within the plug-in evb3.Does anybody can help me? I'm thankful for every idea. Thanks for help,FVMusic

DB:2.44:Not Recording Usb Pedal Data 11

I got one of those new Eowave USB pedals and I'm trying to use it to record volume changes in Garageband.

When I plug in the pedal (using Eowaves editor opened with MaxMSP5 software from Cycling74) and set this editor to control value #7 for volume, the pedal controls the volume of software instruments very nicely. I can clearly see the volume control moving from left to right in the instrument header.

However, when I hit record, Garageband does not record these volume changes.
It still controls the volume of the selected instrument as it always did, it's just that there is no data recorded in the Garageband editor Expression Pedal track. What's frustrating is that Garageband seemed to automatically record these volume changes when I first got the pedal, and now for some mysterious reason, it stopped.

What are the exact steps I must take to be able to record volume changes from this USB Pedal in Garageband? Is there any procedure or setting in Garageband that I'm missing? As I said before, the pedal's editor is set Midi Control value #7 and working when I simply play it.

This is a simple device, so there must be a simple answer to this question. To keep things simple, let's say I'm just trying to record using Musical Typing.
Thanks for your help with this.

Have you tried unplugging the pedal, press down and plug it in pressed down? That "oldskool" method often works (depending on the hardware...) If that doesn't do it, Vacheto's transformer tip will is a good alternative.

A number of discussions describe people editing sustain pedal data, some refer to earlier versions than mine (9.1.8).I can't do it. Searches of "pedal" or "edit MIDI data" don't yield results from the manual, nor does reading whole sections related to software instruments or MIDI.The little button at the lower left corner of the Piano Roll editor (looks like three dots with lines extending rightward from each) appears to be a multi-mode window for editing MIDI data that isn't notes. The downward arrow at the top of the resulting window frame includes a menu, "Sustain pedal" can be selected. The region displays sustain pedal data from 0-127, with 127 appearing to indicate a "fully depressed" pedal. However, deleting or changing this data has no impact. For example: my last notes are only a few beats long, but they sustain indefinitely. That sustain is not effected by editing the sustain on the last note, or any note.My current recording produces an infinite "last chord" -- it doesn't cut off although the note durations are not long. It's strange that (1) any editing to this "pedal info" window makes no impact on whether not.I've tried setting all levels to zero and all levels to 127, I tried comparing the two settings in a single passage. Nothing makes any difference.Best,Ben

HiYou will need to map the "Expression Pedal" to the Waa pedal. There are several ways you could do it, here's one:In Layout Mode, add a Pedal Screen control, and Assign it to the in-coming MIDI from the GiO.In Edit mode, select the Screen Control, and click the "Map Parameter" button. While this is active click on the Wah pedal in the PedalBoard plugin. Turn off 'Map Parameter".CCT

iv got a question about inverted or reversing the function of the sustain pedal.
at the moment logic (and the keyboard) holds down the notes i play without me pressing the pedal, then when i press the pedal it stops.

iv read in some places, soldering would work, however there does not appear to be a way of pulling apart the pedal without it breaking it. also, iv tried buying a new pedal, but it was the wrong polarity to the keyboard, and there is no way of changing it.

so as the title suggests.... is there a way, to change what the sustain pedal does, within logic?
any help would be greatly appreciated..

DB:2.42:Inverting Sustain Pedal Within Logic fk

I have a CME VX80 and using it with Logic 9.01. I'm getting the same sustain all the time once I press the pedal. If I changed the polarity then the sustain stops when I press the pedal. It used to work in Logic 8.02.

This seems to happens with all Logic's virtual Instruments. If I use Ivory Piano the sustain works correctly. If I use Korg's M1/T1 virtual intruments, the pedal does nothing.

Any suggestions as to why this is happening?

DB:2.40:Sustain Pedal Release Should Not Mute Depressed Keys xj

    Greetings,

I have an Alesis Q49 keyboard and an M-Audio SP-2 sustain pedal. When I play the keyboard with Ableton Live, the sustain pedal operates as a normal piano sustain should. However, when I play the keyboard into GarageBand, keys that I'm holding down on the keyboard are muted when I release the pedal. This makes GarageBand just about useless for playing/recording piano parts.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening, or if there is a setting I can change in GB?

The behavior in more detail: Press and hold some keys, and then depress the sustain pedal. Release the keys and the notes sustain as they should. So far so good. Now depress some different keys, and then release the sustain pedal (pretty standard piano technique). Not only will the old notes (that I'm no longer depressing) be muted (as they should) but the new notes that I'm still holding down on the keyboard will be muted as well, which I obviously don't want.

In other words depress and hold some keys, no matter what you do with the sustain pedal, as long as you are holding down the keys, they should not mute.

    Thanks,

    DB:2.38:Garageband 3 + Icontrol + Yamaha P60 Digital Piano + Sustain Pedal= Problem dc

Ok, I have MBP 15, core duo, running GB 3.0.4 (104.7). I have a Yamaha P60 Digital Piano and a generic Sustain Pedal hooked up to it. I have these going into my iControl via the MIDI OUT on the keyboard through a standard 6 ft. MIDI cable to the MIDI IN on the iControl. iControl is plugged into the USB port on the left side of the MBP.

Problem: When recording from the keyboard, the first time that I depress the pedal, sustain begins. When I release it, sustain is released on the keyboard (I have local turned on, so I know when it cuts out) but stays on in GB. Additional symptom: The 'Record' light/button on the iControl corresponding to the track that the keyboard is working on turns off when the pedal is released. This occurs with the pedal in it's default configuration where a closed circuit indicates that the pedal is up, and an open circuit indicates that the pedal is being depressed. I should note that the yamaha works fine either way.

So I rewired my pedal so that when the pedal is up, the circuit is open, and closed when it is depressed (which, of course, is leading me to be depressed too). Slightly different symptoms. When recording, if the pedal is down, then I can hear the notes during playback. If it is up, then the notes are silent. They are recorded, and looking at the 'Sustain Pedal' data in GB it looks like the apropriate data was recorded for that.

I should mention that I've tried changing the channel that my Yamaha transmits on, and that didn't really have any effect.
When I had the pedal in the default configuration, I noticed that depressing the pedal caused the computer to receive several MIDI signals, all through the appropriate channel and port, and which were labeled 'Hold Pedal' rather than sustain. It was a series of values, first 24, then 48, then about 78, 80, 100, and 127, or something like that. This was all on the way down. So pressign the pedal caused about 5-7 MIDI signals to be sent. When releasing it, another series was recieved by the computer, with exactly the opposite values. The final value in the release series was, interestingly, only 24. It never sent the 0. I think this is the cause of the failure to release. Rewiring the pedal more or less solved this problem, but replaced it with the other eratic behaviour.

Has anyone else had similar problems? Has anyone found a solution to them?

It really seams like the iControl or it's drivers, is getting the MIDI signals from the input port mixed up with those from it's own internal ports (the iControl exchanges info with GB via MIDI signals on a dedicated port.) Aside from harassing AppleCare and M-Audio, is there any way to get the drivers fixed, if that's the problem?

I was playing piano yesterday and my sustain pedal was working perfectly, and then all of a sudden (with no buttons pushed or anything) it stopped working correctly. After playing around with it i figured out that for some reason the functions of the pedal reversed...meaning when i am not pushing the pedal down there is no sustain and when the pedal is not being used there is sustain. I tried preferencescontrol surfacesrebuild defaults but that didnt do anything.

Im hoping this is an easy fix and not one of those bugs that is going to force me to learn to play piano backwards. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi there

How do I get Guitar Rig 3 to work so that when I use the Kontrol for wah, it picks it up? At present Logic is just recording the raw sound.

    Thanks!

    Steve

DB:2.38:Guitar Rig 3 - Wah Pedal Not Recording... kd

    ok,
here is the way that I could do it, even though it is not very straight forward, it works. Mind you, I'm not in front of logic, so I will speak from memory and you should get the idea.

    Basically,

Create an instrument track (midi) and have the input as Guitar rig and the output set so a Bus (e.g Bus 1)

Create an audio track where you have your guitar input (dry signal)

on the instrument track set the side chain to the track number where you have the dry guitar being recorded.

now create another audio track and set the input to the same bus that you set as output for the midi instrument.

Now it should all work, you control data is recorded on your midi track, Dry guitar on track 1 (AUdio), and wet guitar on track 2 (Audio)

    hope this helps
    David

And also many times when crashing into a fence or other offroad obstances, acceleration pedal stops working. However acceleration meter in the hud works when pedal is pressed, but the car simply doesn't move.

Sorry about that - I could have provided a little more info (especially in the first pic). Good that you got it working, though.
You were right about the sustain pedal - I had a sustain pedal plugged into a keyboard. That's the 64. For any other pedals, just click the pedal and look at the input view to figure out what CC# it's sending - then change accordingly in the transformers.
Using my way, you would have to make two more transformers for each pedal.
When you are setting these kinds of things up put a monitor object right after the transformers for verification of what they are doing.

for example, if my foot pedal is the same as pressing 'K', I want to write a 'K' when my foot is on the pedal and another 'K' when my foot is off the pedal.

What kind of data are you getting from the pedal? Can you create a user event for this data and compare the new value to the previous value? If they are the same, pedal hasn't been pressed. If they are different pedal has been pressed....you just have to determine which way the pedal moved.

Edit: actually you don't care which way the pedal moved because you want a 'k' everytime.

    DB:2.36:Environment Window: Re-Doing Sum Cabling m8

    Hi guys,

I have a Logic dilemma. Here's what caused it:

I was setting up EWQL Symphonic Choirs Wordbuilder, which requires that you delete the SUM cable in the Environment window and recable things via various ports to get wordbuilder to work.

The problem: deleting the SUM cable means that EXS tracks won't respond to my foot pedal, which I have assigned to CC11 to control volume or expression.

The partial solution: I created a cable in Environment Window from SUM to the EXS track.

Problem part 2: I now have a second EXS track that I need to use the foot pedal on, BUT the enviro window will only let me cable out of one SUM into one EXS track.

The question: how do I keep adding more EXS tracks when I can only cable-out the SUM to one track? I need the next EXS tracks to also be responsive to my foot pedal.

    Can anyone shed some light?

What's about the realtime sustain auditioning/monitoring while you are recording - does it appears from time to time like in "Play" mode or it is OK ?
If it interrupts during recording (in the monitoring system), then it seems to be some problem in the sustain pedal connections or its wire - something like that...
Look very carefully what messages appear in the Input View Monitor in the Click Ports Environment layer during recording.

    Hi,

I'd like my foot pedal to be just a regular old sustain pedal Works fine on piano, synth, strings etc but NOT on any organ sounds (Jazz Organ, Blues Organ etc) where it seems to do nothing when pressed

    Anyone know why?

    Thanks in advance

DB:2.36:Sustain Pedal: Yes On Piano Sound, No On Organ Sounds 9p

    To repeat somewhat...
The problem is that real organs do not have sustain pedals. So, some Organ plugins do not sustain the sound when CC64 (sustain pedal) is received.

One easy workaround is to not use those plugins. If you open an organ sample in a standard sample player plugin, most likely it will recognize CC64, and sustain the sound as you want it to, without any need for CC # modification. Easy.

Having said that, I would never want the sustain pedal to sustain my organs. I make the sustain pedal select the speed of the Leslie effect. (fast/slow)
Usually, most organ programs assign the Mod Wheel (CC1) to that. So, if you swap CC64 to CC1, the sustain pedal will control the speed of the Leslie.
Or, you can use other CC numbers. For example, CC65 turns on Portamento. (acts like a mono lead-synth if your keyboard supports that).

More important, you might want to swap CC7 (volume) to CC11 (expression). So your expression pedal actually controls expression (swell), not volume.
(Some keyboards might send expression pedal as CC11 correctly. My Studiologic controllers do not. They send CC7.)

Maybe Wah Pedal does not respond to CC1? I find that highly unlikely..
