    My X1 DVR started freezing and stuttering during Live TV or DVR playback. It would play for 45 seconds to a minute and then freeze (or drop signal) for a 20 to 60 seconds or so and then continue.I decided to write this because I figured out the problem I was having and wanted to post it in case others run across this problem.The problem was my XBox One. Apparently, the Xbox One started putting out a signal through the passthru that the DVR couldn't handle. Removing the passthru fixed the problem, but reconnecting it caused the problem to come back. I plugged another source (a DVD player) into the XBox One and their was no stuttering or problems, so I suspect it is the X1 being sensitive to the HDMI signal.Turning off and on the Xbox One didn't help. It worked for weeks (I got my Xbox one a month ago). Finally, I disconnected the Xbox One from power for a minute and replugged it in. After the longer reboot, the cable box is working again with the XBox One Passthru.

    Hopefully, if anyone else is having this type of issue and have an Xbox One, this will fix it.It also gives a little insight to the fact that the X1 DVR is sensitive to HDMI tolerances, so people experiencing this type of behaviour without an Xbox One may want to try a new HDMI cable.

    Mine was doing this all of a sudden 2 days in a row last week. I simply pushed pause and let the show back up and then pressed play to resume watching.

    Though this seems like a quick and dirty fix, it shouldn't be doing this on LIVE shows. Especially if watching a football game LOL

    I need this problem fixed quicky. When we first had uverse installed my tv ran perfectly and my xbox live connection was great. Now I cannot watch tv for more than 25 seconds without it freezing and my xbox live connection is horrible. I cannot play a game without being frozen in lag the whole time. We run 6 televisions off uverse and 3 computers but the most TVs we have running at once is 3. The only tvs that freeze are mine and my little brothers. What is the problem? It is making me a very disgruntled customer!

    I am hoping I can get some suggestions here on how to troubleshoot this issue. I recently purchased a Samsung LCD 120z. I already own two other Samsung LCDs, and have not experienced this issue on those tvs. The only difference of which I am aware is that the two older tvs (about a year old) are 60z, while the new on is 120z. In any event, I am experiencing period "stuttering" (for lack of a better descriptor) of the picture during some, but not all, HD programming. I have switched receivers just to test if a receiver may be faulty, but that is not it. Also, I've noticed that it can happen on both live and recorded shows. Other than that, I do not know how to pinpoint why it happens on some HD shows but not others. I also am not sure what settings to tinker with. One other thing I've noticed - if I am watching a show that is having the stuttering issue, commercials during the same show do not experience the problem. It is only the show.One last point I read a suggestion somewhere to turn off the automotion setting on the Samsung tv.I have done that already.It seems to have helped, but has not completely eliminated the problem.I would appreciate any suggestions you may have.     @ the OP.It would be useful to know what form your 1080p files are in. Unencoded or encoded. As Mike27Oct says, you would have a better chance of less stuttering if they are compressed.

    You are not alone. My neighbor and I have had issues with XFINITY since we started the service in August 2014. I have 4 boxes and the errors randomly occur on all of them. We have had technicians out at least a dozen times and each one tells us it’s something different. They have also worked on the junction box in our sub, replaced cables and still no improvement. I started keeping a log of the errors. I don’t know if this will help you but a least you’ll know that it’s not an isolated incident.

    DB:2.70:Searching For Signal On Satellite cp



    I have a hr23 and h24 receiver and just switch to the deca system, because I had too much stuttering and freezing over ethernet. Now that I have switched to the deca the recorded programs work great but now about every hour or so the h24 stops and searches for satellite signal and I have to reset the h24 and it will work for awhile again. The hr23 has no problem. Live tv always worked fine on the h24 before I switched to deca.

    Does anyone have any idea whats going on?

    I would disconnect AC power from the troublesome receiver and connect again, make sure the coax is solidly connectedand see if that made a difference. During installation if you connect the AC power before you connect the coax cable from the dish, you'll get all sorts of strange readings.

    I haven't seen this specific issue addressed and unfortunately, Tier 2 support for X1 has been delinquent in getting in touch with me. Here are the key points:
    I turned on Cloud DVR service a few weeks agoThere are no problems watching programs on the main X1 boxI can stream and "Take to Go" programs that I recorded with the Cloud DVR to my iPad with no problemsWhen I attempt to watch DVR programs from either of my two terminal boxes, one of two thigns happens:The program takes a little while to load and then either stutters or buffers for a little while (sometimes the pausing while stuttering or buffering lasts for a long time). Eventually, the program stops and I receive a Recording Playback error instructing me that the recording is not available and that I should wait or call Comcast support.The program does not load and eventually I am left with a black screen. At that point, I can no longer watch Live TV because the screen stays black. This requires me to reset the DVR box.
    Obviously, I have tried powercycling all of the boses (main and two terminals), but this has not solved the problem.

    When I spoke with an X1 (not Tier 2) tech, his suspicion was the same as mine: that there appears to be some sort of "communication" issue between my secondary boxes and the main X1 box.

    Prior to turning on Cloud service, I had no problems playing DVR programs that were on the X1 box from either of my two secondary boxes.

    I should also mention that I have no problems watching On Demand from either of the two secondary boxes or the main X1 box.

    If anyone has any help, I would greatly appreciate it. I really do like that Comcast has this new technology; it's just really frustrating that no one is able to help me to fix it.

    got a few region 1 iso's that show slight stutter during playback, more noticable when the pictures pans across. i guess this is a fault of the tv rather than the smp? i've got the tv connected to the smp via hdmi.

    I just recently moved and updated services to the X1 platform. When trying to set-up the X1 app or the apps on my TV it is not recognizing my equipment.     hello all,

    Ive had my Hub for 2 years now, and am generally happy with it. However, lately it has been showing some issues. These issues are occuring since 3 or 4 weeks, I had not updated my firmware for the last 4 or 5 months.

    Issues are:

    - videos stuttering (independent of filze format/size). Feels as if the processor is overloaded, or the disk is too slow.

    exiting/restarting the file does not help. Pausing only helps for a minute or so.

    What does help is powering down the hub and then restaring.

    - The hub drops network connection about 4 times a week. Trying to reconnect wont work, my wifi adapter doesnt see the network. If iunplug the USB from my wifi and then replug, it works fine again

    I play all my files from the hub, which has abt 300Gb free, media library is switched off. I never really swith the hub completely off. I have tried the new firmware, but that makes no real difference.

    Anyone with any ideas?

    PS, if I try a factory reset, will the media on the HDD be deleted?

    I've had a WDTV Live Plus for about 18 months, and it works and plays everything perfectly to anywhere on my network, be it from a drive attached directly to the device, streaming, or even basic windows file sharing.

    I bought a WDTV Live for another room, and I have stuttering issues. If I plug any drives into the back USB plug, There are always stuttering issues. If I plug into the front plug, everything works perfectly. When I want to stream to the device from my computer, I can stream and watch smaller files (TV shows, DVD quality movies, etc.) and it works fine be it wired or wireless. However, when I stream to the WDTV live, larger file movies always stutter. This happens if I have the device connected to my network wired or wirelessly. There is nothing wrong with my network or the movies themselves, because everything still works perfectly on my WDTV live plus. Both have the latest firmware. Any ideas as to what I should do?

    Same problem here on my WD TV Live (3th gen)... Always use it wired!

    Only a few movies play with no problems, but most of them stutter after about 30 sec.

    Hope for a quick firmware-update! (or an other solution if its there...)

    Every program I have recorded in the past week or so has interference in places when I play it back.

    The picture glitches just like I used to see on DirecTV when their was heavy cloud-cover or a tree was in the path of the signal.

    What might cause those for Cable?

    I have reset my X1, and the shows still have the problem.

    I do not see this on Live TV, but then I don't watch much TV live.

    Best guess is that you have a weak or dirty signal. It could also be a bad tuner in the box. I would call and get a tech to your home.

    If you do get your dvr swapped there are things that will need to be done. If that happens let me know I can guide you through it!

    We have become used to people joining this forum when they are upset and having problems. However the symptoms you mentioned have been mentioned and discussed in the forum COUNTLESS times. Your issues are NOT unique.X1 is a very different beast than earlier cable boxes and it has different signal requirements. What worked for older legacy boxes does not always work for X1. X1 boxes that freeze up and need to be rebooted are almost alwaysindicative of signal problems. You have signal level or signal quality issues that need to be addressed by a Comcast tech. Call in an set up a service visit. The problems you are experiencing CAN BE FIXED...

    Thanks for the feedback. Interesting question. I originally asked to have another Primary STB and was told that technically it was not possible becasue the multple boxes could not properly communicate with one another. Then I read these threads and it appears it's regional.

    I will be calling Comcast again (I think I'd rather have root canal) and hear their excuse when I tell them I've learnd this is being done in other parts of the country, and the info is within the forums on their website.

    I have been willing to pay more for the performace I want. Apparently that does not matter!?

    Only x1 DVRs can use trick play funtion while watch live tv! While using a X1 companion box you can only use trick play while using xod or watching a saved show.

    X1 uses the comcast Internet network not your personal network to run. With 3 devices you shouldn't need a "booster" , all your equipment is within spec. You may just have a bad DVR, ingress on the line or a bad piece of cable.

    Chillax a little bit. There is a new Companion box coming out that will pause live TV. It is called Xi3. Call Comcast and see if it isavailable in your area.

    In the field I've seen it with older models of tvs with HDMI connected. The guide and other functions don't transmit to the screen, that's why it makes you think it's something with the remote, when more than likely it's not.

    We suffered a power outage during some storms over the weekend. All electronics were plugged into surge protectors and are fine except for one of our three Directv receivers. After the storm, the receiver stutters and freezes while watching both live TV as well as watching programs recorded both recently and long ago on my DVR. Programs that were previously fine on the DVR are now stuttering and freezing during playback. At first the receiver itself wasn't responding at all. After resetting it several times, it would play fine for a few minutes but as soon as I would try to change the channel, call up the menu, etc. it would freeze and wouldn't even power down. I would again have to reset the receiver. I've called Directv twice and wasn't offered much help other than a service call scheduled 16 DAYS after I reported the problem (unacceptable). At this point, the receiver will sometimes work, sometimes not. I've run out of things to try so I would appreciate any suggestions as to how to possibly get it working properly again without waiting over 2 weeks for a technician to come out. Thanks.

    and if you don't want to deal with the hassle of loosing your shows, get a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) for the DVRs. They will provide continuous power even if the power fails, which is what causes havoc on the DVR's hard drive. APC is a very good brand

    Call in and get a tech out to your house. Fuzzy picture and freezing are classic symptoms of when X1 boxes are having problems with signal quality.

    This has just started happening on my HD DVR.     I have exactly the same problem -- just had the HR21 installed Saturday, and we recorded a bunch of programs. Every one stops/skips during the playback. Resetting the HDDVR only seems to help for an hour or two, and then it's back.I just got off the phone with DirecTV tech support. They said it's a known problem and they've alerted the engineers. The only fix that they suggested was to fast-forward the "stop-skipping" program (my term) to the end, and then re-play it. Haven't tried that yet, but will try it now.Either way, this is ridiculously frustrating. DirecTV better fix it fast if they want to keep us as customers. They clearly shipped the HR21 before it was ready -- which would be fine if they didn't call us several times to "make sure we upgraded" to the new equipment. The old H20 was flaky enough, but I think we've actually gone backward.

    Vista Home Premium (without SP1 installed, yet) plays live TV fine - until I open several other windows, whereupon scrolling within, or manually resizing, those windows causes both the sound and vision to stutter.

    I have found that 3GB is the sweet spot for Vista, especially when running really graphic intensive programs. I had a lot of issues with some of my favorite games until I installed that 3rdGB of RAM. Next stop, 64bit and 8GB of RAM.

If you want the Trick Play feature contact Comcast in your area to inquire about getting the Pace Xi3 cable box which is not a DVR , but provides you with similar features.

    Using latest 1.04.12 firmware I now have access to meta-data (using an NFS share)

    However - ANYTHING I try and play just keeps stuttering and skipping. Be that MKV's , AVI's or simple DVD's.

    It ONLY happens when the meta-data is being used from my NAS's NFS share. If I disable the share and just use the standard twonkymedia Media access it all works fine

    Any tips? hint?

Within about three hours, I had to reboot ny box five times. I finally called Comcast and cancelled the X1. They're coming out in two day to reinstall the trusty cable DVRs. I can't wait.

    Trying to play blu-ray rips (m2ts and mkv's) on my WD Live streaming boxoverCat5e 1GB network from my Synology NAS ds212j and I'm getting some stuttering. I only had m2ts files at first, but re-ripped some of my movies into mkv's to see if they would work anybetter.Although its a lot better they still stop and rebuffer every minute or so.

    Whats interesting is I can stream m2ts files fine from my WD Live TV Hub in the other room. They never stutter. So it makes me think its a setup on my NAS. I setup the media streaming service and indexed all my directories that have the contentin them, but I'm still having issues. Is there something else I'm missing?

    Still working through this issue. It doesn't seem to be all mkv and m2ts files. Only certain ones that I have this issue with. Haven't been able to figure out what is different with them. They play fine in my other room from the WD TV Hub accessing the same way as the SMP off my NAS. Some reason certain files are choking on my SMP. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to find out the issues with the files?

    We are new install of X1 Premier service. The main DVR is having many issues. The biggest concern is the speed. It istaking many seconds to load and will not follow next commands until what you first requested loads. All icons are grayed out for what feels like an eternity. Reset box twice. Took 20 minutes to get to a show on OnDemand last night. This can't continue or I will need to go back to regular cable. The other TV with X1 service is working fine, speed is there. The other issue that occured last night is no sound on TV.In the middle of live TV we had no sound for about 3 minutes on ABC.

    it sounds to me like the outlet that the main dvr is hooked up to is having signal issues. What I would do is swap places with the other box and see what happens then....

    For about a month now I have experienced intermittent pixellating on the TV screen. I haven't really been able to pin down a specific time. It can happen at 6am or 6pm. It happens with the DVR and the live channels. I've tried unplugging and rebooting the box. Sometimes it resolves but if it does it is quite short term.

    As far as SNR, yes, the higher the better.

    But for DSRX, the signals can cause issues.

    When I did my test, I pulled up the history of the box whereas Brandon pulled a live, current reading. Both the downstream and upstream reported highs and lows. Granted, the signal levels aren't too out of spec, but it does match what the OP mentioned; intermittent issues.

    I have a DLNA server on my home network connected to a Samsung LED TV. All videos in my collection play perfectly andare very clear.

    Today I purchased a WD TV Live Plus media player. It was fairly easy to set up, but I immediately noticed horizontal lines and stuttering with some of my videos. Many other videos play fine. The horizontal lines only appear with motion and are localized to the motion area.

    All videos in my collection are encoded as .mkv/h.264/DTS and AC-3 Pass-thru. My network is wired gigabit. The TV connection is HDMI.

    I tested several configurations in the media player, but cannot eliminate the distorted and/or stuttering video. I also tried two TVs and component video....both display the same behavior.

    Could I have a bad player?

    I have an HR34-700 DVR. For the last 4 weeks I've had a problem recording "Call The Midwife" on my local PBS station (WGCU in Ft. Myers, Florida) on Sunday nights at 8PM. If I record the show during other showings it records and plays fine. When I try to play the Sunday night recording all I get is a stuttering picture from the channel that the DVR is currently tuned to. The recording shows as being 1 hour long and if I fast forward thru it the stuttering picture never changes. I have watched the show live during the time it is recording and the picture is fine. This is the only show I have the problem with. I also record Masterpiece as 9PM each week and have never had this problem. Has anyone experienced this problem with this or any other TV show?

    I have not had this particular problem and I'm a long way from you so cannot try the channel in question. However, based on the evidence you've provided I think we can conclude that the problem lies with the stations broadcast. I would call the station and ask for the engineer and tell him your problem. In the interim you can set a manual recording for the later period. Delete the series and open the guide and click the R record button once on one of the satisfactory time slots.

    Satellite boxes don't have that ability while watching live TV as they are not DVR's. They will perform those on recorded show and OnDemand playback however.

I was told there have been problems in the area. Last night, (11-5-14) Itried calling Comcast but couldn't get through. TV signal froze, couldn't change channel, never even got a phone calll when the signal problems was restored this morning.

    About 7 years ago I had DirecTV.However, I couldn't get Hi-Def signalbecause the backyard trees were blocking the "5 satellites" needed. Then, wherever, there was rain or snow or strong winds, the TV signal was lost and it would start to reboot.

    I have also had my land-line phone system go-out with no dial tone. I continue to have slow Internet speed or freezing.

    Yesterday, I received my main X1 box and my 2 secondaries, in addition to my xfinity home kit. I installed the Xfinity home hub with no issues. Same with the main X1 video box. Neither of the two additional boxes is orking, however. Both boxes went on televisions that previously utilized the small black cable boxes. The small cable boxes still work on both of those televisions, so I'm pretty sure it's not a house issue. I've swapped the X1 boxes with no difference. After performing soft and hard resets on the X1 se top boxes, the usual screens show on the television, and then I get the "We're having trouble connecting to the X1 Platform" message. All last night the reference code for the error was RDK-03030, and this morning it is the same error screen but the code is now RDK-03004. I spent nearly an hour and a half chatting with an agent last night, but nothing was resolved or changed. I was told signals were being sent, I was told the boxes were re-ordered in the lineup, but nothing has made a change. I reiterate, the main box works fine, and the cable outlets to the other tvs work fine, the boxes, themselves, seem to be the issue here.

    First off, which app are you using? There's quite a few it's easy to confuse them. Specifically both TV go Xfinity TV for the X1 platform allow for live tv viewing only the latter allows DVR recordings.

    Secondly, do you have cloud service subscribed on your account? Even if you didn't the TV GO app would still allow live tv viewing.

    3rd generation WD TV Live! I am using Windows shares over a wired network. Streaming is NOT enabled and I do not connect to that option. It has no problem finding the windows shares? It always does eventually start, a movie , when I press play? But it takes forever.!!! 10-15 seconds to launch a movie (loading loop sequence) ,... 30 seconds to discover network asset, like my PC.

    So now what I am experiencing:

    inconsistent play. Freezing of video - randomly, intermittently, with no sequence or order. It will always resume play, about 5-10 seconds after the freezing/stuttering/looping starts.

    random stuttering, freeze-up, and general inconsistent/slow play of any/all make, ... Encoded in a bunch of different bit rate , with a bunch of different settings... I've experienced this WI-if stuttering issue over and over again.

    I'm using the newest firmware: 1.12.14 (right? Newest?)

    I think my windows network is sound. I have now, broken out the Ethernet cables. I am using wired network from desktop PC, to network router, to wad TV live player.

    This device (new to me!) so I have no experience with this issue before the firmware update.

    So,.. I'm sure that Tim leaving out some stuff. And I'm sure that this post could be formatted better, in order to give myself a better chance of getting help and solving my problem. So. What else information do you guys need?

    AS. This stuttering issue does NOT happen with smaller, lower quality files. I am watching xvii files successfully , in full length, without any of the stuttering that I'm talking about with mkv files above.

    that made me think initiailly, that it was a bandwidth problem. that it was my network's fault. that's why I made sure all of my devices are broadcasting 902.11n -only, and I made sure that my wifi router is only broadcasting 902.11n signal at 40hz.

    I guess, this means it could be my machine. my pc? but, I'm telling you. this iw a new windows install on a set of new hard drives. the network is fresh and ......... I am really frustrated.

    at this point, I am basically shopping for replacement/competition products. Maybe , I will get, the Logitech Revue? or the ... the Vizio Co-Star?

    Well, if it's doing it when it's wired then it maybe your encodes and nothing to do with your network.

    There was an issue that caused the problem you have with Handbrake encoded mkv's. This was a writing library issue and the SMP couldn't handle the newer writing library used by later versions HB. However, this should not be a factor with the newer firware.

    But it could still be an issue depending on what you used to encode the mkv's.

    Also, if your connected to the SMP via HDMI, have you checked your video settings? If it is set to "AUTO" try changing it to 1080p/60Hz. There are issues with the "Auto" setting were the SMP does not detect the correct settings and if is wrong it will cause playback issues.




    I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they do have some good ideas.

    You are not actually triggering a record function on the box... it is a sent signal to the server which then transmits back the recording instructions to the box....

    If you can, please post your SIGNAL LEVELS for others in the fourm to review and give guidance....

    All the times are correct with the guide and front of box but when I hit pause or the ok button from live tv, it shows the time an hour ahead. I've tried resetting the box 3-4 times and no luck. Just shows all the times are correct except when I pause/fast forward/rewind live tv.

    yes, but doesn't affect recorded programs etc. just a bit of trivia. if you watch the inute change it doesn't match the clock for 10 or so seconds each minute. Press OK intermittently to keep it on the screen.

    For the last couple weeks, I've noticed periods of horrible pixelation and stuttering, or freezing, while watching live broadcasts. Last night, the problem was so bad that the audio got ahead of the video. I unplugged the hdmi cable from the set and the tv, reset the dvr, and plugged everything back in. While that seemed to fix the video lag, it did nothing for the pixelations and freezing problem.

    Is anyone else experiencing the same or similar problems??

    Looks like your installer was a bit lazy, he should have taken off the wall plates and replaced the

    a coax install. If he cut a corner there, probably cut a corner somewhere else, but hopefully you

    won't have any more problems. Most of the techs do know what they are doing and you should

    have not doubted him as he did find the problem.

    Well -- I just called Uverse support again (third time since installation in November) for the same freezing/stuttering picture issue

    I took a look at this board and they seem to indicate that the errors in the picture below might help troubleshoot -- Each time I call they ask me to do the standard 'reset the box, do a short recording, oh, that didn't reproduce?' nobody seems to ask for these errors. I opened a web-chat today, got a case number, and was told there is an outage in my area causing these problems. I have a hard time believing that its been the same outage for the last 3 months.

    I told him I'd get back in touch in 3-4 days, but wanted to get the take of the forum here. My system is a CAT5 hard-wire to outside, no co-ax, wireless STB's throughout - uverse turbo, highest of the high internet, and I'm not getting that fully either.

    Any help is appreciated!

    I had this issue with it freezing, It would only happen with on demand HD. It was a HDMI cable issue. The tech told me that their service and equipment has communication problems with HDMI cables unless they are the most Up to date model with the latest software capability.

    If the room is not enclosed from the elements it will suffer. Otherwise if TV is really that important go with a TRUE weather proof outdoor TV. I have installed these right on decks of swimming pools and never had an issue.

    Hoping you knowledgable guys could help me here, I'm worn out searching.

    I've a 2tb mybook live with 1.4tb used, recently my media playback has been freezing watching videos through xbmc or vlc.

    I've a media centre conected up to 3 x tvs with pc's all been freezing.

    having removed all switches and routers cables Ive indentified problem to my book live.

    having it rigged upto 1 pc directly.

    I havent updated the firmware for some time and now trying to update it has been hanging at 1% downloading for 3 hours now. Not sure what my next step forward is.

    Any help with this at all please?

    I am new to xfinity x1 and have a samsung smart tv without wireless.

    I connected an ethernet cable from the cable box under the tv to the tv just like I did with uverse. There is no signal.

    Is the ethernet connection on the xfinity boxes live?

    Rick has the right idea, either a switch or extender to get the Internet to your 2 devices or move your modem/router to that spot if possible. Again there's no Internet connection to be had out of the x1.

    I,ve read o n a few posts that it is common at this point for the video to stutter or stall during play back, as per mine that is running from a Media smart server through a D-Link router and hard wired to the WD Live Hd through powerline Ethernet.

    The video will play a little than stall (freeze) for a minute than resume play. It appears that there is a possible decoding problem. (Files on server are in iso format) I,ve replaced my Linksys DMA 2100Windows media centre converter with this machine for the rewind and fast forward capability and to eliminate a server computer running continues.

    Is there a solution, Please Help

    Ever since I have this product, I get this problem. Any .mp4 file I play in my WD Live Plus, no matter what firmware I use, I get a very stuttery playback, that is only fixed by stopping the playback, and later on resume playing it. This won't happen to any ther files, or even the same .mp4 if I convert them to .mkv, which is really annoying.

    Any one with the same problem? Any fix?

    We have three TVs hooked up to the X1 system and suffer through 3 - 4 reboots every month. The screen freezes up or we get error messages, some pretty strange. Out of the blue, two of our TVs received the message that the format of our TVs is not supported. Strange, since they have been working since we installed the X1 system. Sluggish is not the word for this system, honestly, I would go back to the old DVR in a heartbeat.

    You need your signal levels checked. This is how X1 behaves when it doesn't like something in the signal levels.

    Call in and set up a service visit. Request in house labor so they don't send a subcontractor.

    This started yesterday that I noticed, I wasn't able to tune into CBS at all. Now any channel I've tried watching the picture freezes for a few seconds every 10 seconds or so and there is no audio. Just to see, I have tried using the xtv online service and I can't get any channels to load there at all. I get error code 100. I have tried two browsers and rebooting my computer. I have rebooted the STB.

    This is in the Atlanta area. Is this an on-going issue or something deeper?

    I get a random video stutter on files I play on my local USB drive. Sometimes videos work perfectly, other times it stutters during every scene change. Any one else experience this? I've tried factory resetting the unit, pausing/playing during files when it's skipping, hard resetting, etc.

    And is there a firmware that's known to be the most stable with video playback?

    Lety me weigh in on this one. . . .my WD TV Live worked perfectly when I used a 500G WD MyBook USB drive. Then I replaced it with a 2TB MyBook. Now I have no end of problems with stuttering, vanishing from the WB TV Live menus or just randomly turning off.

    I'm not impressed and seeking a solution.

    How can I downgrade to version 2.06.10? Upgraded to the new firmware version last night and immediately had issues playing ISO files from network shares. Skipping, stuttering and freezing. I have a second live hub that I did not upgrade and that one is working fine.

    Looked on the WD support site, saw only the new version, no older ones.

Even on programs from months ago now are jumping or stopping.. Live tv is ok unless i pause it ant replay then the same symptom starts. I hvae already done the I diot stuff like restart checked connections proper ground.. I also checked all transponder signals . The lowest i found was an 82 on 99spotbeam that seems to be a non issue since usually lowsignal causes pixel problems right or blocks ? I dont have that problem.. So what do i do next? Call them back and say goodbye or what.. Im not paying for another dvr this will be my second HD dvr from Pace Micro (directv). I Never had these problems with the old Phillips Tivo boxes. So my guess my hard drive has had it agian and of course they told me to wait for a magic "download" which im sure will never come nor fix my actual problem.

    We have our X1 DVR set to record several shows automatically. Just prior to the NCIS broadcast I noticed last night that the HD signal on CBS became choppy, with the picture and audio stuttering like it wasn't getting a good feed. The standard broadcast was fine. I went to another TV that has the Motorola box and the HD signal for CBS was fine there. Frustrated, we watched the episode on the non-HD broadcast, and I would switch over during commercials to see if I could figure out what was up. Eventually, I tried backing up in the buffer on the HD station, watching from about 30 seconds behind. The stuttering stopped, but the audio was out of sync by about 1/2 second. I also eventually cancelled the recording (through the guide function - I did not see the show at all in the DVR menu while it was supposedly recording) but this did not seem to help.

    While this was happening, all other HD channels we checked seemed to be fine, and only one show was recording - the one we were trying to watch. This had happened one other time, either on CBS or NBC, but I do not remember if we were attempting to record anything at that time.

    I've read some of the other issues and complaints folks have with the X1 box, so I'm a little annoyed that we decided to go with this one when it was offered as we upgraded service. I just haven't read this one. Anyone else see this? Planning on calling tech suport this morning.

    Hi,

    Since I got PlayTv that I have been experiencing the same issue - the image stutters A LOT in live transmissions. I can be watching a channel showing a regular programme with no problems. I have issues with the programmes I record, but minor issues.

    The major issue occurs with live tv, especially if it's a live transmission such as a football match.

    Today for example, I am trying to watch Olympiacos - Arsenal on ITV1 and it got to a point that the stuttering was so bad that the live image actually froze. I waited a couple of minutes and then had to turn off the PlayTv and start it over again. Still the stuttering remained for the remaining of the live transmission. The image kept freezing again and again and I just gave up on watching the match. I however didn't have any issues when switched to another channel.

    I live in the UK (London) and have a PS3 with an 80GB HDD which is only half-full. I don't have background recording on or live tv buffer on.

    I have the latest software updates for both PS3 and PlayTv. My aerial Freeview signal is strong and I never had any issues with any of the other Freeview boxes I have. This only happens with PlayTv.

    Can anyone help out or provide a possible explanation?

    If you do a rescan with the aerial removed, this will clear the channel list.Re-insert the aerial, and scan again. It sounds like an aerial issue. Did you change flylead?

    Hey Everyone,As hard as they may try, Comcast isn't perfect. X1 isn't perfect. X1 has had outages (just as DirectTV has). With the Super Bowl coming up (and the loads on Comcast's network increase) I would HIGHLY recommend that people go out and buy some sort of antennas for their TVs. An antenna is a simple and cheap "backup" if Comcast (or satellite) goes down.HD antennas can cost less than $20. Some are so thin that you can simply stick them to the back of your TV. I have four HD TVs in my house. Threehave X1 DVRs connected to them. My two largest TVs also have HD antenna mounted to the back of them.If Comcast goes down, I have a perfectly good backup in place that provides the same picture and sound quality that Comcast does. If something were to happen to Comcast before or during the game, I will still be able to watch the game on my two best TVs.

    I have a UHF and VHF in my attic from my Dish days when they had the third tuner available as an OTA on their DVRs. I ran the cable directly into my Sammy and tuned the channels, nice backup. And it helps that we are 15 miles from the antenna farm so it all comes in strong.

    Hi there, I have the x1 platform. One TV in the living roomis DVRand one in the bedroom can do everything but live rewind and ff. Every channel including on demand shows recently have been messing up during play. We have to pause and restart several times to correct it, or change the channel. I tried to sign in online to see if they needed to resend a signal since that seems to be the cure all for issues but the site is having issues right now. I really don't feel like being on hold for an hour if there is another solution. Any advice?

    try unplugging both boxes. plug in the DVR and let it come all the way on until it has live TV (living room). Once it is fully up plug in the bed room box and when it comes all the way up to live TV test to see if either or both can watch TV normally or is still having problems you described.

    We just got the X1 platform installed. The primary DVR is in the living room and the secondary unit is in the bedroom. The unit in the bedroom does not allow us to pause a program or rewind back to replay any portion while watching live TV. Is this a programming issue or is this function not available on the X1 platform?

    I believe the XI3 boxes will but I think you also have to have cloud turned on. I solved the problem by paying for an extra DVR.
