    DB:4.89:Setting Preferred Credentials In Oem 12c 3d

    Hi

    I am trying to set preferred credentials in OEM 12c.

    By navigating to Preferred Credentials Oracle Fusion Middle-ware Farm

    there are two sections
    1. Default Preferred credentials
    2.Target Preferred credentials

    My understanding is to give the box credential in Default Preferred credentials and
    To give the Login credentials which i use to login to EM console in Target Preferred credentials

    Is my understanding rite regarding this?

    Thanks

    Setting up database preferred credentials. Can't setup the Host Username/Password, used a network admin account. In 10G class last week, instructor told me to create a local admin, but it had to have a name different than ADMINISTRATOR. So I created a local admin called ORACLE, gave it admin privilege and also added it to the ORA_DBA group. I keep gettin "wrong password for user".

    Any thoughts? I'm at wits end. Thanks

    Hi mike_22,

    This option should not matter unless you have a LabVIEW VI with parallel code blocks. If this is the case, you can set your VI to Other 1 or Other 2. Please take a look at this knowledgebase for further explanation.

    DB:3.55:Thread: Preferred Server Registry Setting f1

    Good day,

    Had a question come up in regard to the setting of the preferred server in the Novell Client properties for Windows 7, or XP.

    I have usually set the preferred server to the IP address of an NCP server (for example Server 1 192.168.1.x) or Server Name (so again Server 1) however; the customer asked me if it is alright to set this setting to the Master IP address instead?

    Has anyone tried to use the Master IP address instead of an NCP server address?

    Thank you,

    -Dan

    DB:3.55:Thread: Preferred Server Registry Setting f1

    The cluster Master IP address is for the purpose of administering the cluster only. MAP commands should point to the IP address of the cluster resource holding that resource.

    Still not understanding what their problem is. Why do they care where preferred server is, or if it\'s blank or what? Why are they spending time on this? Typically any server in the cluster is equivalent for authentication, then they\'ll get connections to the mapped resources wherever they are.

    FTR on XP the client will by default do a ping test and connect to the fastest responding server. On Win7/8 unfortunately that functionality is not (yet) there, and it\'s effectively random.

    Accessing a windows machine remotely is simple, create an RDP profile including your username and password, save it and youre connected within seconds.

    On linux, I am kind of lost. Basically, I will be only connecting to the linux machine over my home gigabit LAN only, so ideally I want it to - be able to connect with one click (save credentials)- have VM-like image quality and responsiveness- be able to disconnect and reconnect to a session, with programs still running

    I tried some alternatives and cant really find anything that fits the bill:- NoMachine: awfully slow (10-15 seconds to connect, image lags a lot, image quality bad even on max quality setting), bugs me with creating a new session instead of reconnecting to my last one automatically and I cant find where I could change that.- xrdp: comes close to what I need, fast and good image quality, but once I save the login information on the windows side, Im stuck in a black screen.- x2go: similar to xrdp quality wise, but cluttered UI and no one click way to log in, nor save credentials.

    Any suggestions? Is there maybe a setting I missed which allows saving credentials? Personally, xrdp would be the preferred way for me because it doesnt involve installing yet another client on my PC.

    Actually, ultraVNC also has an option to save the password. The documentation mentions a context menu, but there doesnt seem to be one (probably only if you use ultravnc as server). Still, the shortcut to save a profile, CTRL+ALT+F5, works. When saving the profile, it will also ask if you want to save the password. I can now connect to my VM and it takes even less time that connecting with RDP in the windows world

    I'm having difficulties setting the preferred host credentials on Enterprise Manager 10g. I'm using the main OS user account which has administrator rights, and I have set the local security rights to allow that user to 'Logon as a batch job' and 'Act as part of the operating system', but EM still fails to connect to the host.

    The main OS account is a local account, but since I'm running this all on the same machine I didn't think that would be a problem.

    Any ideas?

    Hello,

    I'm at the moment testing the possibilities of the SSH host credentials in OMS 12 and am having problems applying a patch with them via PatchesUpdates.

    When analyzing my patch with the ssh credentials, checking home credentials fails with the message "Invalid environment variable format, expect name=value format:[l/URI:/opt/oracle/agent12g/core/12.1.0.1]".

    Also, when trying to set preferred host credentials for this host, the only credentials in the dropdown list are credentials with usernamepassword, not the SSH credentials.

    Does anyone know if this is working as intended? Has anyone succeeded in patching a database via OMS 12 with ssh credentials?

    Thanks for your feedback!

    Check your open files parameter (ulimit -n) on the host you are trying to ssh into. I'll bet it is set to 65535. Try setting it to 4096 and then restart the agent. I had the exact same issue and setting down the max open files resolved it. Check out note 1454037.1 on metalink.

    DB:2.94:Sybase Plug-In Deployment a1

    So can you run jobs against this agent? What credentials are used in that case?

    It's not a matter of dropping the sybase jar onto the agent and having it work. You would have to unjar the file, rename a bunch of the files, move those files to the appropriate directories (and have to create some of those directories), and reload the agent when you are done putting everything in place. There would also be installation pieces for the repository in that jar (which may or may not have been installed when you made your earlier deployment attempt).

    And if you managed to get it all installed, there's no way it would ever be a supported configuration if you had a problem with it. Best to try to figure a way around the credentials issue and do the deploy through the UI...

After logging in to administrator of the enterprise manager, I tried to open a database after typing username/password for the database connection. The "Save as Preferred Credential" was checked. However, the credential preference was never saved. Everytime I went in and had to retype the login info for getting into a database or a node. Even I went into Configuration to try to set the preferred credential, I selected "target" and typed in username/password and clicked "ok". Nothing was able to be saved and there was no error message. Therefore I could not do many things through the Oracle Enterprise Manger Console interface such as export/import, job setting and etc.

    I'm looking for some advice...
    I have a set of WCF services which require authentication credentials to be passed on eac request. What is the preferred mechanism for transmitting these credentials? I have seen some people add extra parameters to their message contract, whilst I have seen
    others use Operation Headers. The credentials will usually be username and password, but I may decide to pass a token (basically a session guid) instead.
    The services can be configured to use a range of bindings (incl. basic, ws, net and named) over by default SSL.
    Any comments would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Scott

    DB:2.87:Authentication Credentials x7

    Hello,
    why don't you use standard clientCredentialType = UserName? It is supported in TransportWithMessageCredentials on both WS and Basic http binding. Than WCF will automatically add those information to soap header and allow you to handle these credentials on
    the server side by implementing cutom password validator or using ASP.NET membership provider.
    Another topic is mentioned session identifier. If you estabilish secure conversation (not available for basic http binding)you have access to secure session id by default.
    Best regards,

    I agree with Frank.
    First connect to the database from the database as user SYS, using:

    sqlplus / as sysdbaThen using another shell, create a password file for the database.
    Make sure you use the same password for this password file as the SYS user has, or change the password of SYS afterwards.

    DB:2.86:12c Broken Corrective Actions - No Credentials zx

    We have a monitoring template set up which affects 40+ databases.
    We are trying to set up a "Archive Area Used (%)" corrective action on warning and critical to run an OS job to perform a RMAN backup/delete on archive logs.

    When editing the monitoring template, and attempting to set Credentials, the Host Credentials pane says the following;

    Credentials to authenticate on the host to execute the command or script
    Preferred Credential Name: pulldown list
    Credential Details: Credentials will be determined at runtimeIn the pulldown list for Credential Name, the ONLY option is "Database Host Credentials". We have no option there of setting named credentials.
    The hint text for credentials says
    Credentials for corrective actions are specified during the template apply operation. As part of the template apply operation, the administrator should specify whether his/her own preferred credentials for the destination targets will be used or explicit credentials will be provided for the corrective actions in the template. In either case, the corrective action will be marked as broken for targets where target credentials are not set.

    I can see nowhere where the credentials for corrective actions are specified - as there is no manual "apply operation".

    In the Setup Screen under "Named Credentials" we have a Credential Name called "DBHOST_ORACLE"
    Authenticating Target Type: Host
    Credentials Type: Host Credentials
    Target: Blank (scope global)

    We can test these credentials and they work.

    The long and the short of it is that we end up with 40+ broken corrective action jobs, which we need to go in and manually set the credentials for. Which is pretty annoying.

    What are we missing in this process?

    DB:2.86:12c Broken Corrective Actions - No Credentials zx

    Hi,

    Here are the steps that should help you:

    1) Please ensure "Global Scoped" Named credentials are available for the user applying the monitoring template. Since you are using OSCommand and RMANScript corrective actions, ensure that you go to Setup Named Credentials Screen and create appropriate named credentials for Host and Database Instance (Select credential scope as "Global" while createing these credentials)

    2) When you are in Monitoring Monitoring Templates page, select the template and click "Apply" button (1st button)

    - On the Apply screen, select the targets and click continue

    DB:2.85:Backup Wizard Job Fails With Authentication Error da

    I am using the Backup Wizard to do an immediate backup. I have set the Preferred Credentials on both the db and the node to my SYSDBA account. The job is scheduled and run but shows almost immediately in the Jobs' History tab with the following error:

    VNI-2015 : Authentication error

    What authentication is failing? If it were the Preferred Credentials then I get a different error message telling me to set the credentials properly.

    DB:2.85:Backup Wizard Job Fails With Authentication Error da

    I found the resolution of this problem in the Oracle Enterprise Manager Configuration Guide, Ch. 4 Configuring the Console when Connected to a Management Server, in the section "Enabling the Job System", in the Oracle 9i on-line library docs for Windows. Per the instructions I had created a local user account "ntoem" on the server.

    However, what was misleading was that the instructions were for NT and I am using Windows 2000, which doesn't have the utility for setting user rights in the same place. Instead, I found it in Control Panel-Administrative Tools-Local Security Settings in the folder Local Policies/User Rights Assignment. Right mouse clicking on "Log on as Batch Job" in the list of policies opened a dialog for adding the user to this policy.

    With this account as the Preferred Credentials on the Node in OEM, then the jobs for backup, export/import, etc., all started working.

    DB:2.85:Changing Preferred Credentials On Solaris jz

    I have GC 10.2.0.2 on a Solaris-64 box, monitoring databases on a 2-node Solaris-64 cluster (running Enterprise End 10.2.0.3).
    I have a number of jobs that run scripts on the RAC from Grid Control.
    I changed the UNIX password for the oracle account, and then changed the GC preferred credentials for each node in the cluster, clicked on the test button, and all looked OK.
    But when my jobs run, they fail to connect to the RAC (invalid username/password).
    When I changed the UNIX password back, they ran OK.
    I've also tried deleting and re-creating the jobs, but still get the problem.
    I can't figure out where it gets the old password from, or what else I need to change to get the new password accepted
    In all cases I am using Preferred Credentials..
    Any advice would be gratefully received!.

    Hello experts,
    We are facing the following issue when trying to apply the sys sysdba in Grid control - Preferences - Database Preferred Credentials - Target Credentials : db01 - SYSDBA user: sys - SYSDBA PASSWORD : pwd - Apply

    "ORA-20900: Invalid credential set DBCredsSYSDBA ORA-06512: at "SYSMAN.MGMT_CREDENTIAL", line 1489 ORA-06512: at line 1"

    I searched in metalink and found the note note 744409.1 and I'm in doubt with the following:
    It's said to perform
    "Set Credentials for sysdba db user such as sys:"

    emcli set_credential -target_type=oracle_database -target_name=mydb -credential_set=DBCredsSYSDBA -user=myEMuser -columns="sysDBAUserName:myDBAusername;sysDBAPassword:mypassword;sysDBARole:sysdba"

    The database name is db01 the instance name is db01.
    The host is svr01.

    Should I execute the command this way ?

    emcli set_credential -target_type=db01 -target_name=db01 -credential_set=DBCredsSYSDBA -user=sys -columns="sysDBAUserName:sys;sysDBAPassword:my password;sysDBARole:sysdba"

    Also any of you guys faced this issue when applying the Database Preferred Credentials for Sys user ?

    Thanks in advance.

    DB:2.85:Emcli Set_Credential dp

    No, I didn't run into this error.
    You should only replace the "my" variables. So not -target_type=oracle_database

    If only Oracle used variable for the variables to be replaced, things would be more clear.

    Is there a preferred method for setting up a seagate 3tb on imac 10.9?

    DB:2.84:Advice Running Seagate 3tb On Imac 8s

    First, the drive needs to be formatted: use Disk Utility (Applications Utilities), highlight the external, click on Partition tab, (**next step: see below), make sure it is formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaked) and check under Options that it says GUID partition scheme. Doing that will automatically erase the entire drive and format it correctly.**: As for partitions: if you just want one, then choose 1 partition. However, you said something about Time Machine. If you don't want it, make sure it is turned off (Systam Preferences) and if it does ask, simply say no thanks (I have mine turned off and it always asks - a bit annoying). In any case, if you do want it, then you will need to create more than one partition as it needs to be on its own partition. Just choose 2 partitions - name them (TM and video?? or whatever) and then proceed as above. You will then get two icons on your desktop instead of just one. You can drag 'n drop to your Video partition and launch Time Machine to do its thing.

    DB:2.83:Pivotcache And Authentication km

    We have an issue wherein we are unable to satisfactorily implement username/password authentication for a VSTO Excel project, due to prompting from the ODBC driver for credentials when we attempt to refresh the PivotCache in our PivotTable.  What is the preferred way to supply credentials to a PivotCache when it is accessing an ODBC data source?

    Previously we had constructed the application without any authentication on the database server.  Our application essentially proceeds as follows:

    In an event handler for a Refresh button, we populate a temporary table in the DB with a host of fields using ADO.NET (our database server is Advantage Database Server, aka ADS):

    String connectionString = @Data Source = + DataDictionaryLocation + @; servertype = ADS_REMOTE_SERVER; user id = adssys; password = adssys;
    using (AdsConnection connection = new AdsConnection(connectionString))
    {
    using (AdsCommand command = new AdsCommand(sqlFirstPhase, connection))
    {
    command.CommandTimeout = 0;
    if (connection.State != ConnectionState.Open)
    {
    connection.Open();
    }
    command.ExecuteNonQuery();
    }
    connection.Close();
    }

    Next, we attempt to select all records from this temporary table into our PivotCache:

    String sqlPivotTableCache = select * from #tempTable;
    if (pivotTable != null)
    {

    pivotTable.PivotCache().CommandText = sqlPivotTableCache;
    }

     It seems that setting the CommandText property causes the PivotCache to be refreshed.  However, when we configure our database server to require credentials, upon setting the CommandText property, we are prompted for credentials by our ODBC driver, analogous to the what occurs when we link tables in MS Access to a database that requires credentials.  We do not want our users to be prompted each time for credentials that they may not be authorized to know.

    What is the preferred way to set a login and password or supply a DSN to the PivotCache object?

    DB:2.77:How Come The Remember My Credentials Setting Never Works After Reboot az

    None of these aforementioned methods solved my Win7 remembering credentials problem. However, after many trials, I discovered that the problem was caused by the remote device's computer name coinciding with one of its local user names! I changed the computer
    name to something unique, then entered my remote credentials and enabled remember my credentials once again. After that Win7 never asks me again to logon for access to the remote computer.

    -I have given the preferred credentials for target database(MART.ps0156) as sys userid and password.
    -I have given the preferred credentials for node as administrator userid and password.
    -In parameters tab while creating job I have gave the same parameters which I gave when I successfully executed the oem_exec_template.sql.

    STILL IT DOESNT WORK!!!!!!!!

    Rajagopal,

    What you would have to do, is overwrite the preferred credential for the script execution. You would set this to the runtime access user.

    Hi all -
    I have set up 2 backup jobs through OEM and they have been successful. The problem came when my host logon password expired. This caused the RMAN job to fail because the Host Username/Password combination were no longer valid.

    My question is:
    In OEM, I know that you can set up preferred credentials through PREFERENCES-PREFERRED CREDENTIALS. Will this modify the jobs that have already been setup, or will I need to redo those jobs so that they will use the new Host credentials?

    Thank you for the response,

    asanyal296

    To update you on "the not being able to use your Adobe ID or Password to sign into an Elements program", none of us can, and there has been no explanation from Adobe why not (that I have seen). It is assumed that this has to do with some Adobe behind the scenes maneveurs to adjust changes in its offerings, photoshop.com, Adobe Revel, or otherwise.

    You should still be able to import, edit, and export with the program. However, if you are after photoshop.com plus items, then they are not available in versions earlier than 11. In version 11, many of these photoshop.com plus items now come with the program as part of the program (no membership required - free). And, until very recently, even with photoshop.com plus gone, the earlier versions would let the user use the photoshop.com plus items (that is what I found first hand). As of today, no more with regard to that.

    Bottom line: Is your preferred template one of these photoshop.com plus items? Were you ever a photoshop.com plus member?

    Looking forward to your follow up.

    If 'Logon as a batch job' is not granted,do the following:

    From the Windows 2000 desktop, perform the following steps:
    1. Click on START = Programs = Administrative Tools = Local Security Policy
    (or also via START = Settings = Control Panel = Administrative Tools)
    2. Under Local Policies on the left, select User Rights Assignment folder
    3. Look at the right side of the window and scroll down to the "Logon as Batch
    Job" privilege and select it.
    4. Either select Action from the menu bar then Security or right-click on the
    "Logon as a Batch Job" privilege then Security.
    5. Select the Add button which evokes a Select Users/Groups box.
    6. From the "Look In" field, select the local workstation/server.
    7. Select the User that will be used as the EM OS (node) user.
    8. Select Add then OK.
    9. Verify that the "Local Policy Setting" checkbox has been checked.
    10. Logon to the EM Console.
    11. Click on System = Preferred Credentials.
    A. Set PREFERRED CREDENTIALS for the NODE called DEFAULT.
    This will set the logon credentials the same for all discovered
    nodes.
    or
    B. Set individual PREFERRED CREDENTIALS for each NODE.
    Option B must be used if the accounts and passwords are not unique across the
    servers.
    An operating system user with 'Logon as batch Job' privilege is required on
    Windows 2000 if jobs and events are to be submitted. In order to run jobs and
    schedule events against this Node or the services on this node, the user must be
    setup in the EM Console's Preferred Credentials for the node.

    Here's the issue:
    Windows Server 2008 w/ NPS for 802.1x Authentication for Wireless Clients
    Two (2) Windows 7 Professional clients
    So I configured both Win 7 clients to automatically connect to the Office SSID and to use the domain credentials entered at logon to pass to the NPS to verify that this client is allowed to connect wirelessly and be moved into their VLAN. Everything
    having to do with the authentication and such is working properly except for one item. Whenever the laptop is initially powered on, the user name and password prompts show but it does not indicate on the logon screen that 'Windows will attempt to connect
    to SSID'. The current workaround for this, is to log in as a domain user whose credentials are already cached on the laptop, let the automatic association occur, and then immediately log out so the user whose credentials aren't cached on the
    laptop can connect as needed.
    My question is, is there a Group Policy setting or a setting that I'm missing within Windows 7 for Single Sign On to ALWAYS attempt connect to the SSID at all times? Here are the current Network Properties for the SSID that are pertinent to this issue:
    Connection Tab
    -[X] - Connect automatically when this network is in range
    - [_] - Connect to a more preferred network if available
    - [X] - Connect even if the network is not broadcasting its name (SSID)
    Security Tab
    Protected EAP Properties
    - [X] Validate server certificate
    - [X] Enforce Network Access Protection
    EAP MSCHAPv2 Properties
    - [X] Automatically use my Windows logon name and password (and domain if any)
    Advanced settings
    802.1X settings
    - [X] Specify authentication mode: User Authentication
    - [X] Enable single sign on for this network
    * Perform immediately before user logon
    * Maximum delay (seconds): 45
    [X] Allow additional dialogs to be displayed during single sign on

    In gpedit, goto: Computer Configuration Administrative Templates System Logon
    Then set Always wait for network at computer startup and logon to

    Systems now come up with the Windows will attempt to connect to [SSID] after boot.

    We are having a strange problem on our 10.2.0.2 Grid Control OMS that just started manifesting. On the preferred credentials screen for DB instances, the only columns appearing on the web interface are Name,Scope,Host UserName,Host Password,Test. It's completely missing the UserName, Password, SYSDBA UserName, and SYSDBA Password columns that were there previously. This obviously affects our DBA's ability to manage through the Web UI their preferred credentials for the databases. This is happening for any Grid user including sysman. Our Grid Control has been up and running for about 18 months so it's not a new install, and the partition maintenance is being performed regularly. Has anyone seen this behavior? DB:2.72:Newbie Problem Backing Up 9i 71

    Hi,

    I've worked as a programmer and a bit in network admin, but now I'm trying to learn DBA responsibilities. I've installed 9i on a test machine running XP Pro SP2 (unfortunately, this box doesn't have enough firepower to support 10g).

    Here's a point where I'm stuck:

    I've successfully installed everything, including the OEM console. I opened the console to access the database I created (testdb1.dell.myhomenet).

    Obviously, one of the important tasks is backing up the system. I log into OEM with SYS as SYSDBA. No problem. Then I go to Database Wizards Backup from the tabs on the left side. Doing so, I get an error message stating that I can only launch the wizard when connected to OMS. I created an OMS and connected to it as SYSMAN.

    I added two users, admin01 and mike. I granted them CONNECT, DBA, and OEM_MONITOR roles. These are also names of users of Windows accounts using the same user/pass combination to avoid confusion). In Windows, I added both of these users to the ora_dba group, and granted them rights to log in as a batch job.

    I then click on the database, and get error "ORA-01017: Invalid username/password; logon denied". I then get a login screen. I attempt to log in with the following:
    SYS: ORA-01017: Invalid username/password; logon denied
    admin01 (as SYSDBA): ORA-01031: Insufficient Privileges
    admin01 (as Normal): I can log in.
    mike (as SYSDBA): ORA-01031: Insufficient Privileges
    mike (as Normal): I can log in.

    I again attempt to run a backup, but now get a message saying:
    "Node credentials are not set for this mode. Set the credentials for this node in the preferred credentials."

    I then go to Configuration Preferences, and switch to the "Preferred Credentials" tab. I go to the line for testdb1.dell.myhomenet, and set the username as SYS with the same password as before and log in as normal. Attempting again to backup, I get the message saying:
    "The preferred credentials are not set to SYSDBA. You can either update the preferred credentials for this database in the console or create a backup configuration and override the preferred credentials."

    Returning to the "Preferred Credentials" tab, I switch the login type to SYSDBA. After that, I get a different error:
    "Using preferred credentials, the following error occurred: ORA-01017: Invalid username/password; logon denied"

    However, this is the exact same user/pass combination as before. I then attempt with the SYSTEM account as SYSDBA, and get "ORA-01031: Insufficient privileges".

    Could someone please point out to me what I'm doing wrong? It's probably something obvious (except, of course, to me).

    Thanks,
    Mike

    DB:2.72:Job Error 7a

    Hi

    What you can do is to check that the OS user submitting the job through OEM console is a local user on the database server and not a domain user.

    If the user is a domain user then your job submission will fail with VNI-2015 Authentication Failure. I have encountered this situation many times because of the same reason: the credentials for the node user were wrong.

    When adding local user on the database server - it has to be nodename\username and not domain_name\username. Assign log on as batch job and Administrator rights to the local user. This should fix the problem. May be you can check file permissions for the backup directories too.

    Hope this resolved your problem.

    DB:2.71:Using Preferred/Named Credentials For Dbsnmp/Asmsnmp? 97

    Using GC 12c (12.1.0.3) and need to configure a bunch of databases and ASM instances. I don't see where I can use a preferred/named credential to set the monitoring configuration for each database (dbsnmp/asmsnmp)? Instead, when you promote a database or ASM instance, it make you manually enter the dbnsmp/asmsnmp password? Does it seem idiotic to anyone else to have a sophisticated Preferred/Named Credential functionality and not use it for the basic monitoring configuration?Wayne

    DB:2.71:How To Reset The Preferred Credentials To The Initial State 7m

    Hello, Oracle Masters

    After I mistakenly applied some privileges to a user using the preferred credentials, the following message is displayed and I cannot login to Enterprise Manager 10g any more again. Error message says: "The application requires more database privileges than you have currently been granted. Click on Help to get more version specific information."

    Fortunately, I can login to http://.../isqlplus, but I don't know how to write SQL statements for correcting the problem above.

    The best thing I guess is to reset the preferred credentials to the initial state just after the installation of Oracle 10g, but I don't know how I should do for that.

    Please give me some helps for me to take out of this standstill.

    Best regards,
    Yosuke Maeda

    I decided to deinstall Oracle 10g and installed it from scratch.

    So, the problem has disappeared.

    DB:2.69:History Of Sql Statements mz

    Hi All,
    My basic purpose is to identify all the sqls have been run in over the period of time in my database.

    1) I try to use the report "reports" -- "SYS User Operations" -- "Choose the database" and then I am receiving below message.
    2) In my database I have enable XML audit. but this is saying that

    " Failed to render element. Error: Preferred Credentials for the target are not set. "

    Any valuable thoughts or suggestions highly appreciate.

    #############################################
    Page Refreshed Jun 20, 2008 10:52:33 AM EDT

    This report displays audit records for database startup, shutdown, and connect as SYSOPER or SYSDBA over the specified time period. If AUDIT_SYS_OPERATIONS is set to TRUE, all operations performed by users connecting as SYSDBA or SYSOPER will also be shown. Real-time data is retrieved from the database audit trail . To see up-to-date information, the database audit trail has to be enabled and set to a valid DB or XML setting. If the AUDIT_TRAIL is set to OS, look at the OS audit file to browse the audit records.

    An error has occurred!

    Failed to render element. Error: Preferred Credentials for the target are not set.

    Guys that is simple. while log in to performance page or some thing when you gvie your username and then password. There is check box below that as "set as preferred credential. I did and run the report and it ran successfully.

    When setting up the preferred credentials for one of my target hosts, I receive the error : Connection to xyz as user oracle failed.

    I am able to ssh and telnet to the target host from the GRID server. Any ideas as to how to resolve this problem?

    DB:2.69:Unable To Connect To Target Host From Grid x9

    The Agent and GRID were of 2 different versions. I removed the existing agent and installed one that was of the same version and that resolved my problem.

    DB:2.69:Best Practices For Preferred Credentials? 38

    As indicated in other posts, I also live with a security policy that requires the preferred credential password changes on a regular basis (monthly). When living with over 240 targets, the changes can become onerous.

    Questions:
    - Has anyone developed any best practices around this problem yet?
    - Has anyone found any docco on MGMT_CREDENTIAL package?

    DB:2.69:Best Practices For Preferred Credentials? 38

    I searched for Preferred Credentials in this forum before I posted*. A response to a similar question mentioned the package. I then signed onto the user SYSMAN (OEM owner) and described the package.

    The OEM API is huge, and some is not open to the public, so I thunked it better to ask.

    /Hans

    * as one who responds in other forums, I always appreciate when people do research first. I try to do the same (... which might account for so few of my posts getting answers.)

    DB:2.69:Oem12c Bp1 Default Preferred Credentials With Ssh Key Credentials ? 31

    Is it possible to configure Host Default Preferred Credentials to use a named credential created with SSH Key credentials ?
    The drop down list only lists credentials configured with host credential types.

    DB:2.69:Oem12c Bp1 Default Preferred Credentials With Ssh Key Credentials ? 31

    host target type has 2 out of the box credential set HostCredsNormal and HostCredsPriv

    And both these are of type HostCreds (Username and password)
    And there's code which assumes these to be of type HostCreds and process password.

    Hence these are left as is.

    What customers can do is, create additional credential set (emcli create_credential_set) and use HostSSHCreds type for it.

    DB:2.69:2 Day Dba zp

    I installed 10g Personal on my XP Pro desktop.

    While going through Oracle's "2 Day DBA" course I am not able to resolve the following problems:
    - I cannot get past "Setting Preferred Credentials" (p.3-6 2 Day DBA) as I do not know "Normal Username/Password", "SYSDBA Username/Password" or "Host Username/Password".

    - I cannot get past the screen that asks for "Host Credentials", "Username and "Password", when loading data into tables (p.8-21 in 2 Day DBA).

    I am a newbie to databases in general, but reasonably am proficient in AutoCAD Map5. What I am trying to do is learn to store AutoCAD Map data in Oracle to evaluate the use of Oracle vs. SQL Server as well as explore opportunities to migrate some of our map systems to the web through MapGuide.

    Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    DB:2.69:2 Day Dba zp

    Thanks for your prompt response yesterday.

    I used user SYS and SYSTEM with the passwords (same for both) created at install as instructed. My normal login is through a Novell Client and that name and password are not accepted for Host username/password.

    BTW, I have installed a Microsoft Loopback Adapter in order for OEM to find the same IP address/Host when the machine is not connect to the Novell network.

    Still cannot connect successfully.
