    Please help

I'm not sure if you used URLServices but that would be an option to render portlets based on External Applications. This will require the use of the PDK. Go to http://portalcenter.oracle.com and look for the PortalStudio/PDK link.

You shouldn't need to specify the full xhtml file name in the command button.

From your example above, the following should work:

When trying to get others to use it we received errors and finally after reading the last paragraph in the install instructions found that it says you must use the 'customize' link to put in the new email alias AND change the credentials for the external application to the new user. here is the quote:

"To switch to another Exchange mailbox, you will have to change the values entered in the portlet Customize screen and the credentials entered for the Exchange 2000 Basic Auth external application. You can change credentials for an external application via the External Applications portlet. "

Am I missing something here or does this make it impossible to use this portlet for more than one person at a time??

If anyone has an answer, please help. Or if you know an alternative, I'm open to that as well.

    DB:3.76:Portletizing Jheadstart Jsf-Application In Oracle Webcenter Suite ? k9

    Hi,

The JSF-Portlet Bridge in Oracle WebCenter Suite allows developers to portletize a JSF application as a JSR 168 portlet. The portletized application can then be consumed by any portal framework that supports the portlet standards, such as an Oracle WebCenter application or OracleAS Portal.

To publish a JSF application as a portlet, you must ensure that your JSF pages emit markup that conforms to JSR 168 portlet markup fragment rules. Most of the ADF Faces components render portlet-compatible markup.

Is portletizing JHeadstart JSF-Application in Oracle WebCenter Suite possible ?

    Regards
    Boris

    DB:3.76:Portletizing Jheadstart Jsf-Application In Oracle Webcenter Suite ? k9

It is possible, but the portlet bridge has a number of limitations. The following functionality is NOT supported when deploying a JSF app as portlet:

    - partial page rendering
    - popup windows: so no calendar window, no List of Values window
    - file upload
    - objectmedia elements

    DB:3.57:External App Authentication For Portlet - Jpdkv2 j8

I am attempting to display a page from an external application as a portlet, using external application authentication. I am using Portal Version 2, the October PDK, and a URL provider.

I registered the external application in the Portal, and I am able to display the page in question with the administrator's external app test link and with the "External Applications" portlet. However, I cannot get authenticated when connecting via the provider, so I can't display in a portlet.

By loading the external application page with dumps, I was able to determine that the problem is the way in which login information is sent to the external app page, which varies by the connection method and by the "Type of Authentication Used" (POST or GET) as defined in the External App registration.

    I explored four cases:

    1) Using "External Application" link (not provider), with "Type of Authentication Used" set to "POST":

The external application page does not see a POST; it sees login information passed in the URL query string. Password is URL-encoded.

    Example query string:

    horde_user=loghorde_pass=16dec62%21server=mail.wsu.eduurl=http%3A%2F%2Flolo.ctlt.wsu.edu%2Fhorde%2Flogin.php

    2) Using "External Application" link (not provider), with "Type of Authentication Used" set to "GET":

THe external application page sees a GET (information in the query string). Password is NOT URL-encoded (special characters in the password are not escaped).

    Example query string:

    horde_user=loghorde_pass=16dec62!server=mail.wsu.eduurl=http%3A%2F%2Flolo.ctlt.wsu.edu%2Fhorde%2Flogin.php

    3) Using a portlet instance on a portal page (that is, via provider), with the External Application registered to use POST:

The external application sees no login information, either as FORM data or in the URL query string.

    4) Using a portlet instance on a portal page (that is, via provider), with the External Application registered to use GET:

The external application sees a query string that appears to have been constructed by the portal, then URL-encoded by the provider, so that (for example) all equals-signs in the query string are converted to "%3D".

    Example query string:

    horde_user%3Dlog%26horde_pass%3D16dec62%21%26url%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Flolo.ctlt.wsu.edu%252Fhorde%252Flogin.php%26server%3Dmail.wsu.edu

IN NO CASE is information passed as form data.

I am attaching relevant parts of the provider.xml below. I would really appreciate any insight into this.

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,
I have added Oracle Calendar as an external application and it was registered as a Web Clipping portlet. I registered Oracle calendar as an external application because I want to make use of the single sign-on feature.

The problem occurs when I add this newly registered Web Clipping portlet to a page, the following message is displayed

"User authentication failed. Use the following link to update the information"
    Update login information

When I update the login information nothing happens. The same message is displayed again.

I am not sure why this is happening. When I registered Oracle calendar as an external application I was able to login and all that information was fine.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is occurring when I add the Web Clipping portlet to my page.

    Thanks,

    Hi All,

I had installed JPDK in my Portal and it works fine.
Now, I am trying to install the UMS Beta portlet. I have problem in getting this portlet.

The UMS portlet is getting deployed properly.
The URL http://machine:port/ums/providers/ums gives me a
    success message.

While publishing the UMS portlet, I am not creating an External Application as I am accessing the webservice from inside Oracle and I don't have to use a Proxy.

Now, if I Register a new Portlet Provider, it doesn't show up in the Portlet Reporsitory.

Please provide a solution for this.

    Thanks,
    Vijay.

    Hi Vijay,

This seems to be an issue with your Portal Repository. I presume that the provider registration went off successfully. Just try to register any other provider (e.g. the JPDK samples) see if you face the same problem. Otherwise, if you have another Portal instance, please try it on that.
Please provide me with the Portal version the JPDK release that you are using. I'll try to look into this.

When I add a Web portlet provider in the portal, there is an option to map the user's identity using an external application ID. I can't find documentation about what this feature does. Can someone help out?

DB:3.43:Adding A Web Portlet Provider Related To An External Application x8

The Login Server can be configured to login users to external web applications that perform their own user name/password authentication through HTML login forms. An external application id is created when you configure an external application for login through the Login Server. You can do that using the "Login Server Administration" link under "Services" in the "Administer" tab of the portal. Once an external application is configured, the application id will appear in the pop-up list on the provider registration screen. Check out the FAQ (there's a link at the top of this forum) for more information, or search for "external application" in the online help and read the "Adding Partner and External Applications" section.

The problem with this particular application is that None of the Authentication type (GET, POST or BASIC AUTHENTICATION) works.
With POST I get an error Http Status Code: 405, Reason: Request method is not allowed by the server.
With GET I get an error 400, Unknown command Exception
    and
With BASIC AUTHENTICATION in IE (Browser) get an error Invalid Syntax error, and page can not be displayed username:password@abc.xyz.com. The external link works in Mozilla, but not Web Clipping portlet in both the browsers.

I have another application that I added as an external application, and integrated with web clipping portlet and it works great.

    1) You can use the dump URL portlet that comes with the PDK.

    2) If you want to show only part of a page (ie. get rid of advertisements and misc. other junk) you could build a PL/SQL portlet using UTL_HTTP to call the page, parse out the good stuff and display it as a portlet.

    3) If you are know your user population and know that they are using IE or newer versions of Netscape, you can make an HTML portlet, and add the URL as part of an Iframe, for example:

    IFRAME src="http://www.yahoo.com" height=500 width=500/IFRAME

Dose the JHeadstart 10.1.2.x Struts/JSP application can deploy to Oracle portal as a portlet ?Have any document for reference to make this requirement ?

DB:3.37:How To Make A Portlet Application Using Jheadstart ? pf

    Hi!
I have the same problem and so far I have found the following out of the doc (Portlet developers guide):
If you want to run your application as a Java (Struts) Portlet, you have to modify at least the generated JSPs. Reasons are e.g. the extension of the struts tags for the URL correction and as I have read there are only HTML tags allowed that you can use in a TABLE tag (no HTML, BODY and FRAME tags).

Another approach is to try the Web-Clipping Portlet. (That's also on my TODO list :-)
    To test it, I suggest
    - install your JHS app in a separate OC4J
    - Use the web-clipping portlet and reference your JHS app entry page

The disadvantage of this approach is, that you can't influence the style of your application as you can do with real portlets.
    Open questions are:
    - are all JHS URLs redirected to portlet URLs?
    - is the Javascript code still working especially for LOVs?
    - what happens if the Portal page is refreshed? What page of the JHS application will be displayed?

As I said I haven't done any deeper research or tests but I am also interested in a solution.

DB:3.36:The Link In Webclipping Portlet Lose The Session a7

The webc lipping portlet is the out of the box, oracle developed portlet. All the session management, and SSO management is, and should be done by web clipping portlet. Developers are mere users of this portlet.

I am using the web clipping portlet as well, I do run into some problems (which could be a bug), little different then you are facing. My best guess is that, it could be a bug in the porlet, might wanna report to oracle.

I am trying to create a portlet using a URL Services. Our URL is pointed to an address using ASP code. It is composed of 3 ASP pages (login page, page 1, page2-being called by page 1)

The URL works fine with the External Application and we can pass the credentials up to the second page.

We are trying to implement it as a portlet through URL Services. We created provider.xml and we did not get an error. We were able to create a portlet provider successfully. We were able to launch Page 1, however, we were not able to link or launch Page 2. It looks like the user credentials are not passed to the third ASP page, page 2.

Is there a way to keep our credentials and pass to subsequent when it is implemented as a portlet.

We have an application we link to in our portal for which we are using the Single Sign-on feature as an external application. Instead of just a plain link, I would like to display an image next to the link. I have found two ways to link over to this application:

If I add the link as a URL item (copying the link from the external apps portlet), I can add an image, but there is no way to change passwords since that is done through the customize feature of the external applications portlet. If I use the external applications portlet, I can change passwords, but I do not see a way to add an image.

Has anyone found a way to add an image to an external app?

    Sorry - didn't re-read your first post.

You can also create a second link that allows the user to customize their login info, or build your own customize screen. Again, you'll have to copy the URLs from the standard External Apps portlet, and these could change between releases of Portal.

It wouldn't hurt to post a question to the security forum about creating a custom external apps portlet.

it is possible to call portlets from outside by an external URL to integrate the portlet as e.g. iGoogle gadget.

The users portal password and external application password should always be the same.

I want to beable to automatically update the password held for the external application with the new portal password.

Is it possible? I know you can use the customize link in the external links portlet to manually do it but its not a option as its not true SSO.

    Thanks in advance

    DB:3.35:External Application Password Synchronization c9

It will take some coding, but one possible option may be to write an OID plugin. There's a plugin framework for allowing you to provide custom password policy logic. You could use the same plugin mechanism to read the new password and update the user's external apps with the SSO APIs.

The bad news is that the SSO APIs for this (ssopsex.pks) are not public APIs so you won't get any support on them.

The plugin info is available here:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_07/manage.1012/b14082/plugin_pwdpolicies.htm#i122359

    The SSO APIs are in
    $INFRA_HOME/sso/admin/plsql/sso/ssopsex.pks

    The routines of interest are
    pstore_get_userinfo
    pstore_modify_userinfo

Again, please keep in mind that these APIs are private and not guaranteed to be present in future releases. In particular, these are expected to be removed in AS11.

    Gurus,

My client wants to integrate custom Web Applications with Portal to achieve Single Sign-On.
External Applications was recommended and I have a few queries re the same.

The client wants user to access Web applications (outside of portal) thru' portal - this works fine with External APplications, but the External Applications only forwards the login credentials to the web application and the web application authenticates the user and once authenticated the communication is between the browser and external application. Is that right ?

If the above is true, the client wants Portal to talk to External web application and not the browser after the user is successfully authenticated. How would I do this ?

How is External Application as a URL Portlet different from a URL item pointing to External Application ?

Path for the log file depends on the installed location of your provider. Your provider is packaged as a web application when it gets deployed on OC4J it looks something like the structure below. In an iAS install, under the j2ee directory, there will be a subdirectory for each OC4J instance (home, oc4j_portal etc). ALso under the application-deployments, there will be an additional directory relating to the OC4J island (usually default_island)

I've created an External Application Portlet that logs me onto an external website. However, the portlet just contains a link to the external site, not the actual content of the external site. Is there a way to automatically display the content instead of having to go through the link (which opens up the content in a new browser window)?

We're currently working on finishing the SDK which exposes this API (a set of java classes) and code examples that you'll need in order to build your own portlets that interact directly with the login server to communicate with partner applications. We are looking to include this SDK as part of the February edition of the Portal Developers Kit. If you need something sooner, then contact me, and we'll see what we can do.

DB:3.31:Best Provider And Portlet For Hosted Jsp External Application? 9x

    Christo,

Using PDK-URL Services or PDK-Java depends on you. The PDK-Java (J2EE edition) ships with PDK April (this week) and supports OC4J and would enable you to display them as portlets easily. You can use PDK-URL Services if you want to leave your JSP application as they are. What I mean is that you want to have it completely render in a portlet container (parameter passing, inline rendering) without changing any of your code.

DB:3.30:Webclipping Portlet And External App m3

I'm trying to use the WebClipping portlet with an external application on the 10.1.3.3.0 (build 4157) version of JDevStudio. I've defined two external applications: one using Basic Authentication (BA App) and one using a Form based authentication (FB App). Both the BA App and the FB App are deployed to an OAS (10.1.3.3) running locally. (Yes, I have the OAS, Jdeveloper, and the embedded and preseeded OC4Js running on my Windows XP box).

As per the WebCenter developers guide, I've defined two PDK portlet producers, each associated with an external application. I've also created the credential provisioner page via its wizard. The ADF application consuming the portlets is secured via the standard ADF/JEE web application mechanisms.

When I drop the portlet for the BA App onto a page and run the page, the Portlet displays the message below:

User authentication failed. Use the following link to update the information.Update login information

When I submit my credentials (via the handy link provided), nothing changes within the portlet. However, the embedded server's OC4J log prints out:

INFO: Credentials were fetched successfully for external application /oracle/adf/externalApps/extApp467037468334708736.xml by user My User ID.

As for accessing the FB App via the WebClipping portlet, the portlet displays the login form and I have to manually enter in my username/password to the FB App. I do not think the WebClipping portlet has successfully authenticated the connection it makes to the FB App.

    So, some questions:
First off, I've heard a rumor that 10.1.3.3 does not support external applications, but I haven't seen any official documentation on this. I'm wondering if the guy was confused with OSSO External Applications In fact, the WebCenter Dev guide (B31074) has instructions on using WebClipping with Metalink. (I tried this as well, but with the same disappointing results). Does this version of WebCenter / JDevStudio support external applications?

If so, is there something I need to do with the WebClipping configuration? I'm using the out-of-the-box version supplied with JDevStudio running on the preseeded OC4J.

Any pointers or other help would be appreciated, including RTFM (if you tell me where in the FM I should R).

However, the portlet itself has links to JSP's (the external application) in the same EAR application as the provider. The problem is when these links are opened (in a new window) the session the JSP's are served by a different server in our load balanced environment. The JSP's retreive external application credentials from the session. My understanding is when a new window is opened from a portal session, the session is bound to that initial server. This is not the case in our environment. How do we implement this web provider correctly in a load balanced environment?

External Application Portlets (i.e., portlets that show the content from a registered external app) will be supported in 3.0.8. PDK February should provide detailed examples and documentation on how to implement them. Basically, the portlet implementation will require use of specific APIs that allow access to mapped username and credential information for the external application. These are only available in 3.0.8.

    Hi,

despite the URL iView that will point to the URL defined in your web.xml:

If you wrap it inside a SAP Portal EAP, the WAR / Application should be deployed as a portal app. When creating the iView, select as template the option: from portal app. This should allow you to call the portlet within a regular iView.

But this isn't quite satisfactory. Now I want to present the external HTML-data directly in a portlet like in the Excite-examples. Only I can't get the damned authentication thing working. In the examples the login-procedures are all coded as NULL. Is there an example how to do this? It would be great to see this work.

This window displays that i have successfully configured Lotus Notes External Application, but i can't do anything to perform the action, as to add the new contact. Does anybody have the same problem?, it's a bug? or i have committed an error?

Also could you set the log level to 7 (debug) in the web.xml file then report any errors that you see in the application.log file.

    Regards,

I think you need WebCenter to create JSF based portlets - but you'll get better answers for this question on the WebCenter forum.

    Hi all,

I'm trying to add a portlet to my page but I can't see the portlet. I've set my application to 'enable as portlet provider', and checked off 'Publish to Portal' on my components, but when I go to add a portlet to the page, none of my components show up under my provider. Is there something else I've forgotten to do?

    Thanks!!

    Hi,

Check if all the portlets are in production state. If they are then check if they have been granted to the user who you are logged in as.

hi, i have build a url-based portlet to use extrenal application for authentication. this portlet shows contents of users email inbox. i am testing this portlet with two userid's that exist in the email application and the portal.

when i switch between login for the portal to view this portlet i do not see current users inbox, instead it always shows the inbox of one users whose login i used to verify the external application authentication after adding the external application. i did not check 'Remember My Login Information For This Application' option during external application verfication after registration.

i am doing anything wrong? can someone point me to some resourse to read how external application authentication works for multiple users? Does it work for multiple users?

    regards,

    M. Uppal

    DB:3.25:Oracle9i Rel 2 (9.0.2.0.1) - External Application Authentication f7

I am attempting to do something similar (also a portlet with email inbox information).

When you test the external application via the "Administer" interface, it uses the external app credential (username and password) that is on record for the current portal user (that is, the administrator). If no credential is on record for that external app for that portal user, you get an opportunity to enter the credential.

Note that each portal user can only have one credental for each external application.
When you then try to use your portlet (still logged in as the same portal user), the portlet uses the same credential that you just set up.

One way to test is to log in to the portal as a different user. I can't do this because I can have only one portal ID (it's a local "policy"), but you might get access to another portal ID.

Another way to test is to change the external app credential that is on record for your portal ID. To set the external application login info, I have put the "External Application" portlet in my home page. Use the "Customize" button on that portlet to record the user's username and password for the external application.

    I hope this helps.

I reuse servlet as portlet, by registrating the "portlet" and adding the line servlet/servletname in a provider.xml file.

My questions is, how this limit the portlet. What's the difference between a portlet and a servlet acting as a portlet. And what's best practise if you want to use a servlet as a portlet?!

    DB:3.25:External Application Logon as

I have a strange one on my hands.

I am able to use an external application as the authentication source for a url based portlet. That is, when I expose the app through a portlet the logon works. However, when I attempt to run the same external app from a link (as an external app vs a portlet), the sign on does not work. I am using authentication method = POST and the application requires an additional field to be submitted with the login form.

I am able to get yahoo to work as an external app with single sign on using method GET. Additionally, basic authentication seems to be working for external apps.

Has anyone seen this behavior? What am I missing? Can anyone help me out here?

...... additionally, I get a validation error that prevents me from removing an 'additional field' field name from the administer external applications page (across the board on all external applications)..... "You have entered the additional fields incorrectly. (WWC-41608)".

If the user is not logged in, a login page (http://mycompany.com/names.nsf?Login) that asks the username and password is displayed. The URL that the user has requested for is passed to this page as a hidden parameter called redirectto. The user has to enter the username and password and if the authentication is successful, he/she is taken to the requested page (http://mycompany.com/mypage) containing personalized information.

I have registered this as an external application with following parameters:
    Application Name : My Page
    Login URL : http://mycompany.com/names.nsf?Login
    UserName/ID Field Name : username
    Password Field Name : password
    Authentication Type : POST
    Additional Fields
    Field Name : redirectto
    Field Value : /mypage

Then I added a portlet to the URL Params provider andd gave the URL for the external application (http://mycompany.com/pls/portal30_sso/PORTAL30_SSO.wwsso_app_admin.fapp_process_login?p_app_id=104) in the pageURL tag as follows:

    portlet class="oracle.portal.provider.v1.http.URLPortlet"

    contentTypetext/html/contentType
    charSetISO-8859-1/charSet
    pageUrlhttp://mycompany.com/pls/portal30_sso/PORTAL30_SSO.wwsso_app_admin.fapp_process_login?p_app_id=104/pageUrl

    footerTrimTag/body/footerTrimTag
    inlineRenderingtrue/inlineRendering
    /filter
    /showPage
    /renderer
    /portlet

The portlet is displayed in the repository and I am able add it to a page. But when I run the page, instead of displaying the external application as a portlet, the external application occupies the entire page and the Portal context is lost.

Has anyone tried to do this, that is, bring in an external application as a portlet using PDK-URL Services before? Any ideas/inputs/suggestions on how to go about achieving this functionality is appreciated.

    Thanks and Regards,

DB:3.23:External Application As Portlet Using Url Services fs

    Hello Amjad,
    Thanks for the reply.
I was able to find a way to achieve the required functionality. I provided the external application URL as the source for an iFrame in a Dynamic Page and added the Dynamic page as a portlet to the page. This keeps the content of the external application within the portlet region even after the form submission and hence meets our requirements.
Thanks again for your prompt reply..
    Rgds,
    Rupesh

    Hi,

We've found a problem with the standard External Applications ("On the Web") portlet on both our 3.0.7.6.2 and 3.0.8.9.8 NT installations (both against 8.1.6.3 database). Scenario as follows:

    1. Click on the portlet's customize link to add or hide an external application.
    2. Click on Ok. Portal page shown again.
    3. Click on portlet's customize link again. Now get the following:

    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

    DAD name: portal30
    PROCEDURE : !PORTAL30.wwpob_page.render_portlet_screen

Database seems to have crashed, though nothing in logs for Apache or the database. DB restart resolves the problem.

    Advise or observations appreciated.

    Hi
I am using Portal 3.0.9 and I generate an XML component from the Application Component.
which consists of accessing an external web site. When I Run it as a portlet ,It is working fine . Once I publish it inside a portal page and refresh the page I Am getting most of the time the following message:
Error timeout for Content xxxx related to this XML Component

    Regards

DB:3.23:How To Minimize The Portlet Time Out ds

How many portlets u have in that page?

The reason may be the number of portlets in that page and network load.
Try creating a page with only one portlet may be XML Component and see for the results.

Or try creating 2 or more instances of XML Component and give different customization values.

(Note that, there was a bug in 3.0.9 saying XML content cannot be rendered if the output (XML+XSL) is more that 32k.
But this bug has been fixed in the next release of Portal. (9.0.2+).

    DB:3.22:Can A Portal Application Access A Portlet From A Different Web-App? x8

Let's say I have a stand-alone web-application that's available as a (JSR-168) portlet as well. Now, I want to package this portlet in a way that someone creating, say, a weblogic portal application (using Weblogic Workshop) can use this portlet in a portal page. It would be ideal if the weblogic portal application (the aggregator) can access a portlet from a different web-application. Is this at all possible?

    Thx
    Karthik

    DB:3.22:Can A Portal Application Access A Portlet From A Different Web-App? x8

Yes via WSRP. By default (if you did not turn off) portal created in workshop 8.1 is a wsrp producer. you can access a portlet in the portal in a different web app as a remote portlet.

    Hope this helps

DB:3.22:Url Portlet W/ External Application Sso Problem cx

I have a URL portlet that is pointing to an external application.

I registered the login url of the external application to a JSP which authenticates the user and sets an authentication cookie. The external application in the portlet should then be able to retrieve the cookie and show that the user is signed on. However this isn't working and in the portlet, the app shows that I am logged on with the default "guest" account.

I tested the external application settings with the admin external application link portlet and it works fine. I am logged in correctly and the page shows that I am logged into my account.

Also, the portlet is configured to open links in a new window, and use authenticated links. When I click on a link in the portlet, it opens a new window and I am logged in correctly in the new window.

It seems that the external application sign on is working everywhere but in the portlet itself. Does any have any ideas why this could be happening?

The only difference I can think of is that when the app is opened in a new window, the cookie is sent directly to the user's browser. But when the app is loaded in a portlet, the cookie is sent to the portal SSO server.

    Thanks in advance,
    Joe Wong

DB:3.22:How Do I Pass A Parameter To A Portlet On The Url? 3d

I have a portlet on one tab that searches for parts. (This portlet is written and maintained by someone else.) When a user clicks on a part number in the result set on this portlet they need to be taken to another tab (different portlet on the same page) with that part number as a parameter. The second portlet then dynamically writes an

    iframe src="http://someurl?partnumber=xyz" /

to call an external application passing the part number as a URL parameter to the external application.

Writing the iframe / dynamically is no problem. The problem is passing the part number from one portlet to another. We planned to do this by using hrefs in the part search portal using URLs like

    http://hostname:port/pls/portal/url/page/test1/portlet2?partnumber=xyz

for each part number. The problem is that the URL parameter doesn't get passed to the second portlet. Here is the code in the second portlet:

    %
    PortletRenderRequest portletRenderRequest =
    (PortletRenderRequest)request.getAttribute("oracle.portal.PortletRenderRequest");
    String partnumber = portletRenderRequest.getQualifiedParameter("partnumber");
    %
It always sees null for the partnumber parameter.

    I also have passAllUrlParamstrue/passAllUrlParams in provider.xml.

I've tried checking this by calling the URL of the second portlet directly from a browser. The portlet sees the partnumber parameter as null, but the URL window in the browser returns the modified URL from the portal with the partnumber parameter set properly. Portal is seeing the parameter but not passing it to the portlet.

I haven't tried actually setting the in the first portlet and seeing if it all works when called from inside the portal, but I don't see why it shouldn't work by calling the second portlet URL directly with a parameter.

Am I missing some step in order to pass a parameter from one portlet to another? The parameters I have to pass are dynamic, based on the result set returned by a search in the first portlet.

DB:3.22:How Do I Pass A Parameter To A Portlet On The Url? 3d

My second to last paragraph should have been:

"I haven't tried actually setting the hrefs in the first portlet and seeing if it all works when called from inside the portal, but I don't see why it shouldn't work by calling the second portlet URL directly with a parameter."
